Recently I've been looking at new coilovers for my 300ZX I find a wide range on price from $300-1k. My question would be is there higher priced coil over worth the cost. Would only want to lower the car about an inch, and am looking to smoothen out the ride.

Powertrix is by far the best overall option for the Z32, as they have everything you need and often will give great package prices. P-Trix run for about $850-ish for the lowest option and about $1,400 for the Race Ultralites. Tein also has a pretty good system from what I've read, their EDFC is a nice option that is much like the OEM sport/standard switch in the OEM TT, not sure on Tein pricing. Coilovers require adjustable FUCA/RUCA's and tension rods as well, in order to be able to adjust the system to correct specs.
I run Powertrix Race (middle option) and have been happy with them, especially the upgraded FUCA. I personally would not trust the lower-priced units available (Godspeed, BC, etc.) as they are more for looks and not quite up to the quality and fitment levels of the better products.

100% Back up what he said. ^

I run powertrix ultralites, and in addition to being one of the best products on the market, Charles, the owner, is one of the best dudes in the world as far as business practices go. He went above and beyond to take care of me.

Thanks for the reminder Ace, I forgot to mention that talking with Charles is one of the best conversations you'll have on our suspensions, and as Ace said Charles has backed me up WELL beyond expectations on two occasions and is by FAR the best company I have ever used, period.
Just call him up and tell him what you are looking to do and I guarantee you come away very impressed.
