The clutch went out on my car and I'm wondering how much a good performance clutch would cost as well as how much labor would cost to get it installed.

i have mine changed 7 months ago, bought clutchmasters stage 1 clutch.

clutch $260installation $400 with transmission fluid change (transmission fluid change was the biggest mistake )

since i bought my own clutch, mechanic didn't give me any warranty.

i have clutch to this day and i love it. first i hated it, since it has very short engagement distance, and it gets even way harsher when its cold, engages really fast, but i'm used to it very well now. smooth takeoff or spin on 2nd or 3rd sometimes.==================================

go very easy on it for first 500 miles, i would recommend first 1000 miles though. AND DONT RIDE ON YOUR CLUTCH. ENGAGE AS FAST AS YOU CAN WITHOUT DUMPING IT. YOU MAY SMELL YOUR CLUTCH BURNING FOR A WEEK OR TOO, IF YOU DO, THEN START SHIFTING EVEN BETTER, DONT RIDE ON IT.==================================

and last but not least, search for cluth keyword in this forum. search button if on the upper right corner.

oh gee, you're in richmond too. check out the shop at the intersection of pemberton road and gaskins road. i dont like them, but my father always goes there, and so i just trust the mechanic just a bit. but he almost ruined my transmission by putting wrong fluid in it last time.=======================

if u go to vcu, we should meet sometime and do a lil driftinnn..

You can get an ACT Street kit, including the sprung clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, pilot bearing and alignment tool for about $370 from one of our sponsors. The ACT stuff is very highly regarded and the Street kit is good for up to 267 ft/lbs of torque.

As for labor, I don't know. I'd do it myself. Get some beer, invite some friends over and drop that transmission! Probably a good time to get some good fluid in the transmission too. Something like Redline, maybe.

yes, if you gonna change your transmission fluid redline mt-90 is the only way to go for manual transmission. i did a diy on this and you can find it if you search for it.

Spec stage 3. Might as well do it right so you don't have to go inside Trans. after upgrades.
