so ive found out that my clutch cannot handle the motor anymore. it was slipping badly at he drag strip into 3rd and 4th. i should be making between 300-350 at the wheels in my s13, which clutch would be best suited for this. i also drive the car to work everyday so no unsprung discs at all. i have a spec pressure plate unsure of what stage it came with the motor and had an unsprung 6 puck in it which i traded out for a stock ka24de disc which has held fine until now that i have the car running right. so id like to just find a disc if possible to keep the cost down. any suggestions?

I would recommend ACT, as I think it has a better pedal feel, but it is significantly stiffer than SPEC, but since it's your daily, maybe you should stick to SPEC.

I'm a fan of SPEC BECAUSE of the light pedal. Maybe I'm a wuss, but my leg gets tired pushing a heavy clutch all the time. Heck, driving in town on a light SPEC clutch it can get tired. Why would you make it harder than is necessary.

My SPEC Stage III+ is finally due to be replaced after over 50K REALLY hard miles. The pressure plate is still fine, but the pads have finally worn down on the disc. Another SPEC will be replacing it.

ouch! That's gonna be rough on the street. Mine is a sprung 6 puck, and it can be a bit chattery sometimes. I can only imagine what an un-sprung will be like!

ok so i put in the new disc today it was broken in on a ka24det babied for 500 miles. i work with the guy. i was gonna put the pressure plate in but the mount holes were a little off so i reused my spec pressure plate for the ca that came with the motor. when i bought it it had the same clutch in it. upon driving it tonight it is slipping worse than it was before. do i need to break this clutch in to my pressure plate/flywheel or is something else up?

I think you've been lucky. The flywheel should always be resurfaced when the clutch is replaced. Does the flywheel have the proper step on it?

As far as laziness goes, this is the best clutch disc. Won't slip, don't have to resurface anything (copper!), wears like a rock. Streetability-wise its very poor, but you get used to it.

I second ACT. I run this kit: http://www.frsport.com/ACT-NS4-HDG6-6-P ... _9418.html

Pedal feel is damn near stock and the engagement feels great.

i too went with the ACT kit, totally worth every bit of the money. ^^^ that PP, but i used the organic disc for 300 or so lb.ft.
But if you, really honestly, did not want to continue having the clutch slipping, then you should have ensured yourself you wouldn't need to do it again. I had the flywheel resurfaced and stepped. I'm almost certain when i did mine the factory spec i had them do was .004. no idea if it makes a difference thats very minscule but i thought paying them 40 bucks was better than having to prematurely slipp my new disc a few times and then have to redo it again, the entire job, while being without a car. id have been pissed.
im also going to just add here that i think you should stop driving, throw away anythingf you have that is from spec and uuse the pressure plate from your work friends kit. the bolts dont line up because you didnt open them up so they could, haha if youd have searched google for the specific problem, well you know... :) hope it helps

ive got his pressure plate on there now. its a spec lol ive had spec for like 6 years now and had no issues until now but thats bc of power increase. the new pressure plate feels way more stiff. i found that a 7/16 drill bit opened them up perfectly. only problem is now i went to go take the car to work and its running stupid rich all the time. guess its time to figure that out and then ill report back when i can actually test the clutch.
