There's like 103289 different brands for car care prodcuts. Sipmle stuff like turtle wax and meguiar is what I use. I've heard of other stuff like Zaino. But what's the best stuff out there for a very glossy look on my black car? Eveyrones gonna give me a different opinion im sure .. And nothing too outrageously expensive

The new ICE line from Turtle is pretty good consumer level stuff.

Depends what you are going for, The Turtle Wax Ice Liquid Clay Bar is great for black cars or cars that show "swirlys" and is super easy to use...really all maor name brands are good, and how much elbow grease do you want to use?

ZAINO will make the car look wet but don't over use, it becomes hell on the paint, check as some of my former 350Z friendscan attest Brickyard (2003 350Z's only) is Beotch to find a match for!

But any major name brand wax should be just fine..I prefer the liquid ones now it's just easier but I used to do my truck in good old fashioned turtle wax green paste, but then again I was beating the snot out of that truck.

For a black car, you can't get much better & easier than Meguiar's NXT wax. It's not a real long lasting wax, but you paint will look really wet. This is my last car. 95,000 miles & original paint after NXT & Meguiar's Tech wax. Klausse makes some good product, but I've never used it on black paint.

My custom engine cover.

I've used all of the Meguiars waxes. NXT being my favorite in terms of shine.

Started using the Zaino Z2 now, very wet look, and longer lasting than the NXT.

I never thought the NXT looked all that great on white cars. Kind of dulls them. I would try the Zaino Z2, but I'm running out of space on my wax/polish/detail shelves.

I don't know about straight white, but the winter frost *pops* with NXT just doesn't last that long. I'll have to take some pics comparing the Zaino's and NXT when the weather is better.

For anyone interested in a deep shine, I would definitely clay-bar. Even brand new, after clay bar the paint was a LOT cleaner/wetter.

On the interior I've used the Meguairs quick detail spray, but on the coupe I'm keeping it to just sponge/water. I don't want the least bit of shine on the dash etc.

For leather: Lexol leather cleaner and their conditioner (two products)

Durability was the only issue I ever had with the NXT, That's why I always put a coat of the Meguiars #26 tech wax over it. One of the reasons I like the Sonus Cockpit Detailer is that it doesn't leave a shine but it does provide UV protection.

Clay bar is a bar of clay. After you wash your car thoroughly, spray some quick detailer(acts as a lubricant) over a section of your paint. Lightly glide the clay bar over the paint & it will pick up any foreign matter left. You will be amazed how much stuff is embedded in your paint. This leaves a perfectly smooth surface for your wax & polishes to adhere to. Also, just use a piece of the bar, not the whole thing. Kneed it till it's pliable & go to town. If you drop it, throw it away & get another piece off of the bar. I've also seen it used with your car wash soap(diluted) instead of QD.

So basically. It comes hard and u knead it till it softens up. Then u slide it on the paint a small section at a time that has quik detailer on it. U use the same piece for the whole car? Is there any buffing with a towell after using teh clay bar? Do u only slide it on the paint or do u work it in as if waxing?

You knead the clay to soften it up a little bit, spray down a small section of the car with lube (either QD or good old soap and water), mold the clay so that it looks like a little pancake, put it on your finger tips, and glide the clay over the paint (don't try to work it in, just move it along the surface of the paint). I find that moving in overlapping straight lines works best. When you finish your little section, the part of the clay that was in contact with the paint might be a little grimey, so re-knead the clay until the surfaces look clean again, and move on to another section of paint. Repeat a whole lot of times and you're good. I like to wipe the excess lube off when I finish a little section of paint (I use QD, so just wiping works there, but if you use soap and water, you might need to rinse it off).

one last thing. When u put down the quick detailer.. do you wipe it one like u do with windex? or just spray it and us the clay to move it? That could get messy if you dont remove it..

After I clay the car (one panel at a time), I wash/dry the whole car again prior to using the polish..(or wax)

Just spray it on & move the clay around. You should not feel any tension when you're sliding the bar around. It should be very slick. If you feel tension, spray more QD.

It's important that you apply a coat of wax after clay-barring as the clay bar removes all wax etc.

Another thing that I keep forgetting to mention, RAIN-X your windows. That product is AWESOME at shedding water when it rains. To the point where my side and back windows are completely dry when the car is moving, and I rarely have to use my wipers.

For tires I like the Meguairs gel tire treatment.
