Best car alarm for the convertible (Yeah, I searched!)

HI guys, me again.

OK, so now I'm in the market for a car alarm. And yes, I've searched this site and others. I'm getting to "analysis, paralysis" cause I've read so much on the subject. Now I know to stay with the DIE brands and I'm leaning toward a non-remote start Viper. BUT, then I also read that these things can be too sensitive for convertibles and to just get a kill switch.

So, what alarm do you have or recommend to another member. Oh and one more thing. Price? I read NOT to install one yourself unless you REALLY know what you are doing (I don't). But should I buy from ebay and find and installer or go big box or mom and pop? They say the installer os more important than the alarm!!! Recommendations in the LA area very welcome.

I have a Viper and love it.

If there's an Audio Express in your area, good choice. Won't break the bank. Talk to their installers and get some ideas.

And no, I wouldn't tackle the install.

Thanks AZ. Hey, I can barely turn the key on this car never mind do an alarm. Doesn't seem to be an Audio Express out my way. Which Viper do you have?

So, let me ask you this.... there is a SoCal SX meet by me later today. I was thinking of stopping by and asking some questions. I've never been to one of these types of things. Do you think they would mind someone like me stopping by to see their cars and ask for advice? I never plan to race my car. I don't think I'll ever really be able to fix it up by myself. I just really like the car!
