Just as the title states, I would like the best stopping power possible in my 1990 240 with SR20DET without changing any hardware. Basically whats the best Rotors and pads that will bolt on without complications.

Try going to http://www.performancenissanparts.com. They have a stage 1 brake upgrade kits for stock S13/S14 set-ups. They come with SS lines, Dot 4 fluid, and some nice pads. All you need to get it rotors and your set. That is what I am going to do on my S14. Hope it helps!

Any idea how much the Q45 weigh more than the stock 240?

Stillen has a big brake kit too but it costs about $1600. And you need at least 17"wheels.

Since rotor temperature rise [and thus pad rise] is a pure function of rotor weight.................a 20% heavier rotor will show 20% lower temperature rise in an equal stop. Assuming stops are quick enough to not bring air flow reradiation of heat into play.........single 3-4 second stops.

All about keeping the pad rotor interface below the point at which the pad friction coefficient doesn't degrade.

Tires are an over looked area as from 80 mph you can create a 30+ foot variance............function of tread wear INDEX primarily.

Without ABS almost all oem brakes will lock oem pads at 60 mph if enough foot force is applied [120 pounds]........thus tires and ABS software are the limiting factor.

180SX front brakes are a bit bigger (thicker rotor/ larger caliper) and pads are readily available because they are the same thing as '93 Altima brakes.

Just food for thought if you don't feel like chaning to 4 pots.

If you can find zinc coated brembo blanks, get those. I did hawk pads and brembo blanks in July. They're rusting up already.

Although I'm currently running a 4 wheel Z32 brake conversion, I was running slotted Brembos and KVR Carbon Kevlar pads before that. They worked quite well for me at the time.

I'm currently running X-drilled and slotted Z32 rotors front and back on a 5 lug conversion with the same KVR Carbon Kevlar pads.

I'm VERY happy with these pads and always reccomend them to others.
