My cas has 22K miles and I have noticed that my car is starting to screetch when I stop (front brakes) and shake when I stop. When I first got the car I was amazed at the brakes but now I can see a difference in stopping power. I think I need new pads. wanted to know from the forum - do you think it is the pad and not the rotors and what are the best pads for the price. Also, should I stay away from the dealership replacing them. Thanks guys for your input. And sorry if this topic was brought up in the past. BTW I have been watching the cross drilled rotar thread but I do not think I am at that point.

Staying away from the dealer goes without saying, they will rape you and you know it.
Is this the thread you've been following ?

If not, it's a real good read.
Btw, any decent garage will do a free brake inspection for you as you wait and show you what needs to be replaced. Something to consider..

The dealer will say you need a brake job (that you have to pay for) the shaking is your rotors starting to warp.... They will tell you they will have them resurfaced (turned) and that may take care of it for a while. But then on your next brake job (you pay again, lol) you have shaking problems you may get rotors replaced since they are under warranty! Great right? Now you have another set of factory sub par rotors.... To get to the point and to your question, look into the ebay break kit.... You won't be disappointed by the price and performance you get!! :dblthumb:

Good luck!

I am glad the OP started this thread.

I just purchased an 08 with about 23k and this is one of those items I will ask to be included; if it was not already done when the M was traded in on a new M56.
