Whats up everybody? I have a S14 with a SR and I'm trying to find out what brake pads I should get. I'm looking for something affordable that will be safe for street use and works well on the track, and also I have talked to a few guys that autocross and they recommended also using a high temp. DOT 5 brake fluid. When I called to order it they told me I will have to rebleed thae brakes after each use and they recommended DOT 4. If anyone can help me it would be highly appreciated.

thinking logically... you'll be on the street wayy more than on track... go with what the store folks told ya.

As for brake pads... or brakes in general go drilled rotors, no slots... otherwise you'll kill your pads. Pad-wise, Metallics have a lil better stopping power, but screech, so go semi-metallic or ceramics.

Remember every driver's car is different, you gotta play with your 240 like it's your personal, huge-***, lego set; play around with parts month by month and see what suits your driving style.

im not sure what they mean by having to rebleed the brakes after each use????

as for pads I have Axxis metal master... very low on dust and performs very well when I want it to but not harsh on rotors or dusty as track pads.

DOT 5 is the silicone based one right? pretty sure you dont want to run that without a braking system meant for it.

check out ATE superblue maybe.

if you use DOT 5, you have to bleed the brakes VERY well, which means using about 2 containers of the stuff. also, bleeding the brakes after each use refers to HEAVY use, such as autocross or track days. hawk HPS are also very good brake pads, that is what i will be getting shortly when i replace mine.

they probably meant DOT 5.1, which is what super blue is, among others. for just autoX, DOT 4 will easily be enough and it's cheaper/easier to get than DOT 5.1

dot 5 is silicon based, this means if you have ABS still on the car you will get bubbles because of the ABS. the replacement for dot 5 for cars with ABS systems is dot 5.1 it can't withstand as much temp but is the next best thing. when looking at dot 4 and dot 3, ignore the number, look for the one with highest temp on it, i've seen "severe duty" dot 3's with higher temps than dot 4's and cost about a buck less a bottle.
