I have seen one sick bastard using an old HKS wastegate as a blowoff. He had a huge screw though kept pusing open true blowoffs.

Depends on who made the BOV and the design. HKS makes a recirc kit for the SSQV that goes back into the intake tube before the compressor(this intake tube is the same one that comes with the engine). If its something like a blitz dd then it should be pretty simple to rig up some kind of pipe and run it back into the intake. Though some other designs are much harder to route back depending on where the air is expended.

so let me get this straight..... A recirculating BOV is a BOV that routes the air that is blown off back into the intake before the turbo by the use of an aftermarket kit available for some BOV's....

So... my question.... would this help spool a turbo quicker? if so... how much quicker.... I may be the only one on here that doesn't care how my BOV sounds, just as long as it works, and it works good....

Will there be any sound with a recirculating BOV?

There will be sound from a recirculated BOV but it won't be as loud as it normally would be. You will not see any gains from recirculating a BOV. The only reason a BOV needs to be recirculated is if you still have a MAF without something like a HKS AFR or Apex-i AFC.

you said unless u use sumthin like the hks afr or apexi afc. would this be to control the air/fuel ratio at idle? i've read that atmospheric BOVs can cause stalling at idle. if u use an afc then can u use an atomosheric bov withouth stalling?

Usually an HKS Vein Pressure Converter (VPC) is used to bypass (or basically get rid of) the MAFS. This is a perfect option if you have plenty of money. But most of us dont have 1500 laying around the house and HKS (supposedly) discontinued the VPC line to push its PFCon and FCon V Pro series.

Like lucky said, there is no performance gain with a recirc valve, just easier drivability since the "metered" air isnt getting released.

I don't want an aftermarket bov. At what point would the stock bov need to go?

I'm using the stock bypass valve right now routed back into the intake and it's running great. I haven't cranked up the boost yet so I wouldn't know how much boost it can handle, but certainly when the stock bypass valve starts leaking I'm going to find some way to upgrade the stock one like the 1g dsm bypass valve being crushed as an upgrade when it starts leaking.
