I am about to buy a silver 91 fastback. Everything is in good condition, except for the paint. I am going to repaint it blue and I was wondering what blue you all like. This might help me decide. I would post pics, but I don't want to kill the bandwidth

Skyline - Bayside Blue http://www.skylinesdownunder.c....html

NSX - Monte Carlo Bluehttp://northwest.nsxca.org/pas...1.jpg http://www.nextnsx.com/ce/16june01dyno01.jpg http://www.worldofhonda.com/ns...m.jpg

IS300 - Intensa Blue Pearlhttp://www.lexus.com/images/sh...l.jpg http://clublexus.com/gallery/s...cat=2

Jspec Rx-7 - Innocent Blue Mica ( I think it's also on new miatas)http://www.rx7club.com/forum/a...37093 http://www.rx7club.com/forum/s...+mica

97-98 Supra - Royal Sapphire Pearlhttp://store5.yimg.com/I/wotmstore_1716_16149644 http://store.yahoo.net/lib/wotmstore/mainpic http://store.yahoo.net/wotmstore/19sinturtoys.html

I like the Skyline blue, but I think that would be hard to obtain, and the NSX and IS300 are really nice too. I could probably get the rx-7 and supra paint cheaper and easier. Anyways, what do you all think?

Thanks, Johann

I'll post pics when its doneBlue

What is? If you're refering to changing colors, I can get it painted for free if I buy the paint and strip the interior. If you're talking about the Skyline paint; that is what I was thinking. If it works out to be too much, I will either go with monte carlo or intensa.

You get what you pay for, so dont expect a job that will last.A professional job like this will cost you anywhere bewteen 3-5k.

A notable mention would have been the STI Subaru WRX Blue. It's very similar to the R34, but appears to have a bit of pearl/candy in there. But go with R34!

I agree, you do get what you pay for and that is about how much my uncle charges. I do not expect the best paint job ever, but his work is excellent, and he has been doing this for a while.

I still can't decide on a color.

Thanks for the responses, Johann

I threw in a vote for other.

I wish I had the name of the color or an example to show you..... but Toyota had a blue/teal/pearl type of color that could be seen only on the early 90's pickups (as far as I know). It is what I have wanted on my car since day one, unfortunately I don't want to shell out a couple grand when my white/pearl is perfectly fine.

But if I needed paint I would go that route.... I'm sure if you did some research or had your uncle look it up you would find it. In the end, it really is your choice and you should go for what you like.... not what we like.

Another important question that comes with all of these examples is; are you going to try to match the finish of these examples or just the color?

My buddy just went through the process of repainting his Impala and he likes the color, lifted from a caddilac, but is dissapointed that the finish doesn't match the caddys.

I have no idea how paint shops work, but that may be something to be concerned about. A Honda has a different finish than a Bentley. Ask your uncle a lot of questions before you proceed.

I like the NSX but I would love to see some thing far darker. ;)

i am in the middle of fixing dents and preping my car for painting right now. I am painting it the skyline blue color , but with a little added metal flake. I can post the color code if you want. The paint is from PPG paints. We are getting it painted by a very professional body shop , who we did a favor for.

I think the House of Kolor Cobalt Blue Candy<?> or the House of Kolor Candy Cobalt Blue.. <-something along those lines looks nice. The owner of the 240 in here with that color can back me up on this. :)

I believe the color code is TV2 correct? Can you give me any more info on PPG paints?

I still can't decide. I have narrowed it down to Skyline, NSX, and IS. The rx-7 color changes so much, I have never seen 2 pics of the exact shade.

Also, thanks for bringing up the idea about the finish vs the color. I will have to give it some thought and do a bit more research.

Thanks, Johann
