OK here is the scoop. I ahve a 2008 G35x. It has Nav etc loaded. It is all stock. What is the bang for money to gain HP? I went to local performance shop and they said the dual air intact and its roughly $550-600 and a chip $600. The chip I dont like idea messing with the computer.

So I;d love to hear from you ALL on what you reccomend to this rookie.

Cheers

Chip or any device for modification of engine parameters can be dangerous to engine health. You will not likely gain much with an intake in the rpm areas you drive most, unless you drive on a track. If you go this route your considerations can be do you go with a system that isolates the incoming air from that in the engine bay or not. Does the system provide isolation from the elements if you ever have to drive in situations with water on the road (don't want to suck up dirty water into the system). Does it have an oil based filter or a dry filter? Oil based filters can foul the system if not properly handled.

If you go with an exhaust system stay away from high flow cats, especially cheaper ones that can become fod.

intake and exhaust. will be your best bets for power gains on our cars...

cat back will give u 9whp intake about 5whp.. thats the most power your pretty much going to get for our cars with bolt ons, if you want to go "illegal way" high flow cats will be most power gain even with stock exhaust.

thats about it. there are plug and play tunes like bullydog and cobb. but thats messing with the computer something you said you dont want.

what chip were they talking about the bullydog is 300 and cobb is 700. they are both plug and play there are no ecu chips available for our cars.
