Hey guys first time poster long time reader. I have a coupe 2.5s with the 9-speaker upgrade. I was reading that BOSE had "matched the acoustics of the interior", is this true? Is there any absolute subs that would not go well with the coupe, or the opposite, ones that would match perfect? I stay with Alpine but if there is a better match for the coupe I'd love to know. Thanks guys

Bose tuned the system so that it would sound the best possible with their equipment in this car. Are there better options out there with better equipment? Absolutely. Would some of these options be cheaper than the Bose system? Most likely. Every system that is tuned is to a given application (in this case, the Altima coupe). So there is probably no way to get the Bose system to sound better if you keep the components all the same. You'd have to replace pieces or the whole thing (like some of us have done).

Now, for the sub, there is not one option that will sound significantly better than all other options. It comes down to your personal preferences on what you are looking for. Matching a sub to a system deals with finding a sub that plays the way you like (Is it loud? Does it play cleanly?), and tying that in to the frequency range that matches well with the interior speakers. I'm not sure how low the stock Bose speakers can actually play. I also don't know where they cutoff the frequency at the low end. However, I can tell you that the deepest the Bose speakers will play cleanly is at a higher frequency than most aftermarket options. That being said, a sub to match the Bose system should be able to perform up to this higher frequency (probably somewhere around 90-100Hz). In most cases, this is a lot higher than most enthusiasts like to cutoff the subwoofer frequencies (the bass at this level is directional, so you can actually tell that the sound is coming from the trunk - ideally the sub will play frequencies that you cannot locate from about 60 Hz on down to the sub audible frequencies). If you're looking to add a sub, let us know what you are interested in (loud booming bass, or something more musical and cleaner hitting) and a budget. We should be able to come up with a number of options that will work. As the budget increases, so does the quality of the product you can buy (as with all things, unfortunately).
