So i have 2 12's, 4 ohm, 500 watt rms. (theyre Visonik, cheap but hits pretty good!) It came with a crappy Visonik 400 watt MAX amp. If I wanted to swap the amp out, I would just have to take it out, and reconnect the wiring to the new amp, right? Would there be anything different? Anything to worry about? And as the topic says, anyone recommend a 2 channel amp under $200 with around 400 to 500 watt rms? Also, I was lookin at this amp, http://www.epinions.com/pr-Pyl...specs. Should I get this? Its pretty cheap for the power w/a one year warranty from Target. Thanks for the help!!!!!

I am selling my MTX2300x to my friend for 100.00. It's rated at 150x2, but it's birth sheet says it actually puts out 201x2, nearly 700w bridged. Try to find an old school MTX, PPI, Orion HCCA or Fosgate Power on eBay.

Alpine MRP-M450. If each sub is 4 ohm, you want an amp that will run 2 ohm mono. Most two channel amps won't. Most mono amps will.

Erg.... Hifonics. Hifonics... Hifonics!!!

You won't find a better deal anywhere!

Look at their Brutus amps!

I'd go with either the Hifonics BXi 1206D or the Hifonics TXi 7506.

Both can easily kill those subs. I'm talking cone flying out of the basket dead . That's only if you don't set it up properly.

Anyways, those amps will allow you to upgrade better subs in the future if you choose to

+1 for Hifonics. Good stuff, good prices. Can't go wrong w/older MTX, Fosgates, etc, but Hifonics still makes tough amps for good prices.

As a 20 year veteran of the 12V business, I would avoid most old amps. Old Rockford amps emit so much RF it is not even funny. Electronics, unlike wine, do not get better with time. There may be a FEW exceptions but I'll take the new stuff 99.9999999% of the time over older, less efficient, larger, fewer adjustment having products. New technology > old technology.

I understand that, but for $200 in his power range, he's not going to get an MTX, Fosgate, etc. that will power them properly (if they can really handle that much power) unless he gets an older one. I'd rather buy an older MTX than get a new pyle or other cheap brand but that's just me. There are good brands out there that make cheaper amps, but I'd spend the money for a good one or wait until I found a good deal or super sale.

Ok people, stop talking.

Hifonics makes inexpensive amps. I was comparing the amps I listed to the JL 500/1 ! Does that give you an idea of their quality?

I vote for SPL amps. I have a 840 watt SPL pushing 2 12 inch Audiobahn High Compression series subs. They hit really hard most people thought they were 15 inch subs. LOL
