You sound like you are doing the right thing and doing your homework ebfore you dive into all this so it really should be said.....Off the shelf tunes are great starting points, but the best way to get things done is to get it tuned on a dyno with a wideband and everything. You'll make the most power and be more stable, its a win/win really.

True, but I'm not sure I can find someone to do it here in Detroit.

Come to find out JWT is the only one who makes one for the SOHC. I think I'm going to go Emanage Ultimate.

You're not sure that someone in Motor City will be able to do it. I bet you can find many peeps, but if you like, you can send your emanage to scott (enthalpy) and he will tune it to your specs, plus his magic. I don't claim to be an expert, but I have used that search button like no ones business, and I don't like the JWT technique to be too conservative with timing. But I have heard some of the great myths of Secret Services, and if they are 1/2 true, then my decision is made. Plus, if you get an off the shelf tune, Scott's is 95 bones less.

with a tunned ecu, safc, and wideband you can fine tune yourself. its really easy. before i got an safc i thought it was going to be so hard, it really is easy to get used to.

to make up for jwt's conservative timing, IF YOU ARE WILLING, you can advance base timing a couple degrees. only do this with device to monitor timing.

example:

my jwt ecu will drop total timing to 14 degrees when hitting full boost. as it gets to redline it ramps up to 18-19 degrees. i also have my base timing advanced 2-3 degrees. so really my timing hitting full boost is 16-17 and at redline its 20-22.

enthaply on the other hand: nissanfanatic borrowed my techtom and found the timing to be at 23 degrees. thats how enthaply tunes make a lot more power than jwt. more advnaced timing

sometimes the afr's are a lil richer or leaner. thats where the wideband and safc come into play to even things out
