JL is good, I have a lot of their stuff. I would never say that they are the best, because I know better and have price tags that make the JL stuff look like the free giveaway speakers that best buy will throw in. The W7 is LOUD but I hate the way it sounds compared to the W6 series.

But, this thread is about 4x6's........

That's true they are the best...Until you hear better, which when getting into the upper echelon, differentiating between drivers (subwoofer drivers) becomes increasingly more subjective and application dependent than objectively measurable...much less debateable.

Well there ya go. It's the best sub you've ever heard because you've not heard better. simple.

It's like saying the 240 is the best car anyone's every driven...until they drive a better car.

*edit*I will explain "application dependent" a bit more. A speaker driver is just a tool; a means of reproducing sound from an electronic signal. For any job, you really need to use the right tool for that job. When used appropriately, any quality tool can do good job, when used inappropriately, even the best tool will have poor performance.

So, a W7, used in the correct size enclosure and for an appropriate goal will work very well. When used in the wrong enclosure and/or for the wrong purpose (hence wrong application) could easily be bested by a driver 1/4 it's price when designed for that same application.

When it becomes subjective is when two tools are used/designed for the same application, for example, Porter Cable vs. DeWalt or whatever subwoofers you want to go toe-to-toe.
