Hey gsr before the wrong person here flames you mentioning AMS, yes the SZ as is worth the extra 300. AMS quality (which is bad) is nowhere near as good as SZ (made in the usa). Specialty Z backs their products, trust me man u wont regret buying the 3 inch downpipes from them. Im still saving on getting those but they are so worth it

Also, please wait for a response before making another thread. That's bad forum etiquette. I'm deleting the other thread, as it's basically asking the same question.

SZ sells a set they produce overseas for a bit less than 675 you have to contact SZ and ask them about it. Although they are produced overseas each set still has to pass through Greg's or Seb's hands before making it to you so the QA/QC and the backing of a reputable company are there.

If you catch it within (I think) 2 minutes, you can just hit the "x" in the top right of the post, right next to "Edit," and that'll delete the post.

Yes they do sell the 3inch SZ downpipes for $450 (but SZ doesnt advertise them you gotta go thru someone else like IPP http://www.importpartspro.com/sz3exdopini3.html) which is cheaper but its made overseas Not in the USA. I actually emailed Greg about the difference between the two he told me that the overseas one are sometimes not made to spec but he fixes them anyway to make sure the quality is to his standard. He actually told me that he will stop selling the oversea ones since it takes time to redo them when he gets them. here's the email of what he sent me (i bolded the part of the oversea downpipes vs the usa made ones)

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your interest!

The USA downpipes are works of art and everything about them is top notch.
The USA parts have CNC machined flanges, CNC machined dividers, cutting and fitment is amazing and offers the least turbulence and offers the best possible flow.

Because prior parts were copied for less in countries that have very low labor cost, I felt I should try to have my own parts made overseas to be able to offer a lower cost to consumers.
My experience with this is difficult at best because my highest concern is quality. I have made a few different batches at different overseas places and all have had issues I have had to deal with, some were not able to used at all, and all required us to finish them as they can not be sold the way I receive them.
The overseas parts have flame cut flanges that have been ground to final shape, and cast separators. Pipe fitment before welding is reasonable, but not perfect, weld are strong, but not as pretty. The fitment in the car on the ones we send out is good and it tested in our own tight fixtures. I do have to scrap some.

We have only made the 5 bolt versions overseas, I have not made any 4 bolt other than in the states as I never was happy with the 5 bolt runs.
I do not advertise the 5 bolt overseas, but have some from the last batch for people wanting 5 bolts that are looking for a lower cost option.
When this run of 5 bolts I have is gone, I do not plan to make more overseas, the work we have to put in for the final product is not worth it and I would rather sell less of a product I am proud of.

The 2.5" downpipes and exhaust has 6 PSI backpressure in the downpipe, That backpressure cause resistance to flow and slows turbo spool and ultimate power for any given boost level.
The 3 inch expansion downpipes have less than 1/2 PSI pressure in the pipes at 25 PSI boost.
The exhaust is hottest at the turbo and that is where the exhaust is most expanded and requires the most room, providing a cooler, low pressure area right after the turbo makes the response and power difference amazing.
We use to get about 330 RWHP with full 2.5" exhaust, intercooler upgrade, single pop and 14 PSI boost on 91 pump fuel.
We now get average 415 RWHP with 3 inch exhaust, 2.5" intercoolers and pipes, dual pops, on the same 14 PSI boost.

I have attached a chart showing 2 average older set ups with the smaller pipes, and 2 average set ups with all the new larger pipe set ups.
All cars are stock turbos, stock engines, over 100K miles, 91 pump fuel, same dyno.
Notice the difference in boost response on the cars that can breath, and how they carry the power and carry the boost.

Greg
Specialty-Z

This email basically convinced me to go full 3 inch vs full 2.5 :yesnod thanks Greg for the advice still saving up on those downpipes probably will have enough the end of next month
