Hi

I have a '92 240sx h/b and I'm trying to decide which shocks and lowering springs are best for the money. Either seperate favorites or killer combos. Thanks

#1: Welcome to NICO!

#2: Try asking this in the Suspension forums. I would go into detail myself, but this question has been asked and answered hundreds of times. zeroforum?id=140

#3: Check the Archives by doing a Searchhttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerosearch

#4: We need more info! What will you use you car for? AutoX? Drift? Road racing? Daily driving? How much do you want to spend? All these questions and more need to be answered before an appropriate suspension can be picked out. I can tell you everything that I have done, what I am still planning on doing, and what my dream suspension setup is, but we need to know what YOU want to better assist you!

You don't get much better than Aragosta. But look at the price. OUCH. And OVERKILL for a street car. So are the KTS. If you plan to track the car very regularly, then fork out the dough. If it will be mostly daily driven, stick to a well matched spring/schock combo.

lol I was just joking around cause of his "whats the best" question...I figured IF he wanted the best..ehh what does price mean

But im working on getting my car on track as much as possible...got a session coming up at button willow on the 29th and auto cross in Sept. The KTS aren't that bad on the street IMO, but I do have pretty good roads around me that get repaved every year or so..seems like they are always paving a street some were around my town

look for arguably the most popular combo tein S-tech springs with KYB agx dampeners, or for a lil bit more aggressive people tend to like RSR and Koni....

basically shocks and springs are even overkill for street driving? i mean all you do is drive around cities and in some highways...

shocks and springs for cheap affordable bang for the buck performance for all of the following: track, autox, drift, drag lol and for guys that want a more aggressive stance for looks/lesser body roll. $350-1k depending on setup ebay-tokicos-konis

full coilovers for serious track, autox, drift, drag guys that'll get down and dirty +will fine tune suspension and for guys that want to slam their cars. taiwan(d2, ksport,megan,apexworld)-japan stuff mostly your choice (tanabe, hks, cusco, silk etc etc etc hundreds to choose from)

since you're looking for shocks and springs. look at tokico blues or kyb agx with springs: rsr, h&r, eibach pro, tein s, etc... lots of guys on this forum use kyb+eibach pro with good reviews.

If you want better handling for cheap, just get wider tires. If you aren't doing any track racing, a 205-225 tire is quite sufficient with the stock suspension. You can fit 205s (and MAYBE 215s) on the stock wheels, and you don't need much of a wheel upgrade to get a 225 on there.

But if you do get springs that lower your car, do not lower it more than about 1.5" or you will wreck your suspension geometry and end up with worse handling than you'd have with a higher ride height. Unless of course you have the money to get custom-machined suspension pieces to reconstruct your geometry, in which case I envy you.

I figure in another couple of years I'll actually be ready/able to drive my 240sx. That's, in part, why it's taking me forever to get it all together.
