there's no point in making it lighter, it's already extremely light.

i have my reasons to want to make it lighter. every bit helps.

the less strain i have to put on the drivetrain to get this thing moving the better.

so, does anyone know?

well you can do all kinds of stuff. take out all of the seats, take out the jack and stands if you have those, take out spare tire. there's nothing realistic that you can do if you want this as your regular car. i wouldn't worry about it though..don't take apart the most beatifullest car ever created by mankind.

Mattback, you're on a bunch of other boards right? Like Wangan Midnight and Z31.com??

How's your Z?

Take out AC, Heater core, power steering...unless its all already done. Saw the useless half of the dash off, or take it out, and make an aluminum one.

Get some fiberglass fenders, or bumper.

2500lbs isn't light, 1600 is.

yup same old mei got an 89 coupe.

the z is retired for now. its motor and parts have been spread throughout the z community. ive moved on to lighter less prone to break an axle chassis.

fiberglass aftermarket fenders are truly lighter than the stock sheetmetal??

Who sells them?

If you want to lighten up the coupe, you can try hopping back on the DDR machine and lose another 10 lbs :D

How much weight are you looking to shed, and how much are you willing to spend? You could buy lighter weight wheels, remove the back seats/belts, remove the spare tire/jack, remove the air conditioner, some of the power accessories, get rid of the radio, carbon fiber hood, remove the carpeting, lightweight racing seats, etc. But you dealing with a car that's already very light. Unless you're making this a full time racer, I wouldn't strip it bare.

There's only so much you can do without actually cutting out sheetmetal from the chasis which will make its rigidity zero. It's also hard cuz being as the 240 is a unibody, to actually go fiberglass or carbon body panels ur gonna have a lot of work ahead of you cutting and molding, etc. that would be tight tho, if you could turn your 240 into something like the track attack altezza :) You're prolly maxed out if you've already stripped the interior, carbon hood, new fenders, that's pretty light if you ask me.

yeah dude like I said, after you strip, and replace with lightweight parts...all you can really do is start chopping the metal away...kinda dumb tho if you ask me. Or you could always go tube frame chasis, go totally custom there :)

i have some parts cut outta the engine bay...plus the bumper support...i had to cut wholes for the intercoler piping, but i made them large, to take out uneccessary metal....you can also remover the rear bumper and cut out the support, that is heavy...i have no ac, and no power steering, completely gutted, remove sound deadening material, remove side view mirrors (replace w/ f1 style), remove antenna, speakers, mounts, seatbelts...take a screw out of anywhere with multiple screws....lighter stearing wheel, lighter seats, lightweight rims, bogarts in the front, carbon fiber hatch or trunk...carbon fiber doors, fenders, hood....titanium exhaust, take out gas tank, replace with small fuel cell.

you can cut the interior floor board and pass tech...

This guy has proven himself to be an imbecilic retard in the past but he may have something (besides sore glutes) this time. When I saw the first shot of a 350Z I thought it resembled the Audi TT. A friend of mine here at work drives the TT so I examined it quite closely. The similarities are slowly diminishing with the advent of the 350Z but initially it resembled the TT to me.

Well I've seen both cars in the flesh and the 350z really doesn't resemble any Audi past, present or future any more than a '91 prelude resembles a '91 240sx coupe....unless your reffering to the fact that they have doors and wheels......:sleep
