I am not exactly sure how it easy it is to bend valves by hand. I remember I thought the same thing when I was working on my DSM. The belt blew up and I had to rework the head. When putting everything back together I was worried about the same thing. I tried to turn it by hand but it got hard to turn--I was off a little bit for some reason. Long story short--no damage was done to the valves or pistons. I simply realigned everything and the valves were fine, compression was right on check.

Maybe you could try setting everything again and turn by hand. If the damage has been done already, youll know. Its usually pretty hard to turn the engine by hand during compression stroke, yet not impossible.

don't forget to take your spark plugs out when you try to turn it by hand. makes it a lot easier.

Depending on how long of a ratchet you were using and wether or not you have popeye's forearms the time the motor went hard to turn was probably just a compression stroke and is normal. If the plugs were removed and it was still hard to turn then you might have some issues.

The best way to tell for sure if you bent or damaged anything AFTER you make sure everything is inline would be a compression test. So basically just undo everything and start from fresh if you think you goofed.
