Ok, my timming was off and the shop cut me a deal I could'int refuse. They took off $300 for labor. Anyways, when i set my timming originally, the 1st piston was tdc. And the cam lobes were facing outwards. Is there anyway my valves could of hit, if they did, i'm sure there would be a loud sound, or not??

not necessarily, cranking engines are noisy and the screaming of doomed valves is usually drowned out in the din.

A compression test can reveal if there is a bent valve

Compression test definately. And for future reference, always turn an engine over by hand a couple times before cranking it.
