I posted for opinions in the Tire forum concerning my recently purchased used 05 17 inch rims. One had a slight bend on the inside. Did not notice the bend until I got them home and was putting them in my storage building. The fellow that I purchased them from had no idea that there was anything wrong with them until I called him.
Sooo, I started googling to see where I could get it straightened. Decided to go with a mobile service. Not only can they straighten your wheel, but they can take care of any road rash too!!!
So, since I had no idea what contraption was used in straightening a wheel, I figured you guys might be interested too. So, I shot a few pics to share...
Here is the rig they pulled up in. David and Vince. David is from the eastern part of the state and is training Vince on how to do the business up here. Not sure if I got Vince in any of the pics....
Here is David when I told him that I had a coupon to use....j/k, he was cool with it.
I tried to back up and get the two conpressors in the pic....but my camera sux!
They first check and mark where the dent is and where the wheel has been pushed out... They meause using the gauge shown.
Then, they heat it up and beat it up!!!! The contraption also pulls the lip out. You probably can't see it in the pic cause it works from underneath.
They do more checking and continue the process until it ain't bent no more!
My pics of them sanding the rash and painting didn't come out.... I shot mini movies instead... But, you can picture that anyway!
