How do you fix a bent exhaust tip? Just one side of the tip has a dent so its not perfectly round...how do I fix this without damaging the exhuast?

your probably screwed unless you take it to a metal, or exhaust shop and ask them if they can fix it.

i have a apex i muffler and the tip is bent, and dented. i used needle nose pliers but expect it to scratch. try your best at having a metal smith fix it.

I'm curious on how "bent" it is...

I mean, if its just a little dent, you should be ok... I'd just take a hammer to it or something

the metal was pretty hard i hardly did anything to it. my silencer doesn't fit at all. thats why i said instead of fooling around with it just take it somewhere to get it fixed.

just a though but get a 2x4 or piece of wood and beat the silencer into the tip? that should make it round again

its a total pita, once you try and remove it, its very hard to get it out. its hard enough to get it in, getting it out will give you cuts for sure.

grab it with a pair of vicegrips (wft needlenose pliers?) if your afraid of scratches put a shop towel over it first. if that doesnt work get creative.. a long pipe.. something along those lines. You can always use heat too. i.e. propane torch or the like. No reason to need to take it to an exhaust shop

simple way is to take the exhaust off and then try to bend it back with a hammer and some sort of pipe that you can stick in the tip to help keep it round while you pound it with the hammer. or all else fails, pound on the tip and make it oval...lol.

First, torch it evenly across the whole bent part, on both the inner and outer spots until its slightly red.

Second, take a nice pair of vice grips(yea wtf? needle nose haha) with a nice thick rag thats damp(if your worried about scratches, make sure your outside and away from anything flammable if the rag decides to catch fire), put the rag in the grips and clamp it on tightly.

Third, use your own force to bend it back into shape, if not then just bang a hammer against the vice grips, try not to break them in the process .

Forth, it should be somewhat back into shape if you do a good job, if not then haha , look below for another idea...

Take a piece of wood, place it against the exhaust, mark with a sharpie along the lines of the exhaust until you make atleast half a circle, cut out the shape with something like a bandsaw if you have. make sure there is no uneven spots, either take your exhaust off or strap the piece of wood tightly against the exhaust, and heat it up, use a hammer to bang against the dent, having your piece of wood to shape it into.

hope this helped or gave you some ideas
