What are the effects of using an FMIC on an SR running at stock boost levels (7-9psi). I am currently using the stock SMIC. I know using the FMICwill allow me to boost higher, but what I want to know is what if I maintain stock boost levels. Will the FMIC do anything for me that is noticeable? e.g. quicker spool, or things of that nature?

you might actually experience a bit of turbo lag. FMIC's usually have more piping than the stock SMIC that needs to be pressurized. i can't tell you how much of a difference since i started with a front mount, but i've heard it's negligable. the larger core will, however, allow a cooler air charge through, so you'll get a small bump in power

As well as more piping, it is also usually larger in diameter not to mention the much larger core. I know I felt the lag when I installed my FMIC.

The problem is, why are you sticking with stock boost? JK

You will notice more lag, and my freind even claims a power loss at stock boost when he switched. My butt dyno isn't quite as perfected as his, so I really can't tell you if there is or not. But it definatly would be a waste of money IMHO. If you want to save cash and still upgrade, maybe you should look into a MKIV Supra side mount. That baby is good for 400+rwhp, but still small enough to help the spool.

with a FMIC u will gain more top end but lose a bit of bottom end due to the small turbo...if you upgrade the turbo to something bigger (especially something with dual ball bearing) you will begin to pick up the bottom end...when i installed my HYBRID i noticed a bit more lag and a bit of power loss at bottom end but once it hit full boost at 10psi it was boosting like a champ =)...helps that turbo push air a little easier as well given FMICs have a MUCH BETTER flow rate than that small SMIC

would you say that is a good size to fill in that middle mouth of the bumper? I was looking at 25x6x2.5. somewhere around there? did your ic do well for you at only 2 inches thick?

BIG...thats about how the size is..hhehehe =)i dunno off the top of my head but its one of the largest FMICs ive seen for the S13 chassis...its meant for a bigger turbo but itll work with the T25...though ull lose bottom end with the HYBRID setup...ull gain a good amount of top end (especially at 15psi)

i think the HYBRID setup is good till like 550hp or some insane number

EDIT: i found one on ebay for yah so u can get the specs...its the same kit i bought
