anyone know where i can get the blueprints for the belts layout ...i was looking around yesterday to find an oil leak and the belt around my alternator is half fried off...i was wondering if this could be the cause of my battery failing to give spark sometimes b/c it is not recharged...is there anyway to replace the belts w/out having to take it to a shop? if i could do it any instructions on removing them w/out having to rip off the front end...also anyone know how i can get off oil from concrete..thx

12 mm bolt holding the altenator to the upper braket on the side of that braket away from the engine is another 12mm bolt that screws into the block the other 12mm bolt is screwed into. loosen the side one first till the end of its threaded section is loosened till it is flush with the block. then loosen the 12mm holding the block against the braket. then on the bottom of the altenator is either a 12 or 14 mm bolt loosen that. do not take any of the bolts all the way out. then once all these bolts are loosened grab the belt and pull up on it. this will draw the alt in toward the engine. now the belt is slack enough to remove. I believe your p/s belt if it has one will need to be removed to get your alt belt completely off the car. its belt tension is much the same as the alt except one of the bolts you have to access through the pulley holes. its the 14mm near the top of the pump. the adjuster on it is pretty much like the altenators upper braket except it is on the bottom and it is a 12mm nut secureing it instead of a bolt. when tightening reverse the sequince except you want to tighten the side bolts first to take up belt slack. you tension should be so the belt does not deflect more then 1/2 an inch when tightened. but not so tight the back side of the belt dishes in around the pullies.

you do need to remove the ps belt to get to the alt/waterpump belt. It's a sinch to do both.
