Hey guys: Any of you know how many belts need to be changed when I change the timing belt (btw how many belts are there?). And should I also switch out the water pump as well? My car is squealing when I start up and sometimes gets a louder as a accelerate but then it cuts off. Any other ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

240SXs dont have a timing belt. Its a chain. As for your squealing, it would be either your altenator belt or your A/C belt.

Is it safe to say if I dont have my ac on when I start then its the alternator belt? and if I do then its the ac belt? Would it be ok if I waited to replace the alternator/ac belt? Any suggestions and ideas are apprcieated. Thanks.

Unless they are cracked beyond belief, you should be able to just tighten them. There are adjusting screws that you can turn to take up slack in the belt. Before you do that, press on each belt and see how loose it is. They should be tight, but not OVERLY tight. Basically, about 1/2 movement as you push. Belts are cheap tho, and replacing them makes sure they dont break on you while you are driving.

EDIT

And no, when you start your car, both belts are turning, either could still be squealing.
