So I'm driving home from my girlfriend's last night and about halfway home, my battery indicator light and ebrake indicator light come on. As I get closer to my house, the truck starts to slowly heat up. I noticed I lost power steering too. So I get to my house and kill the engine, pop the hood and take a peek. Its dark and I can't notice anything out of the ordinary. Skip ahead to this morning. I start the truck and still have the indicator lights. I pop the hood with the engine running this time and notice none of my belts are turning. Does that mean the balancer has somehow come disconnected from the crank?

Possible. The crank pulley has a rubber insulator that can crack and seperate over time. Yours may have taken a dump. Is the center of the pulley still spinning?

I don't know for sure on your engine, but often harmonic balanceer are keyed to the shaft. If the key shears off, it will spin freely (or not spin with the crank in your case. You'll need to pull the balancer in either case.

so I got under the truck and checked it out. The bolt came out somehow, the keyway was missing and the pulley got a little torn up. I had a replacement for all three so it all worked out.
