Belts Help!!!!!

I just changed the belt on the power steering pump the one that also goes to the fan and i started it up and drove down the road and back and got out and my radiator overflow thing was bubble and it was really hot can anyone tell me how to solve this problem

make sure your water pump is spinning and the belt on that is tight, it sounds like you may have not put it on right and it wasnt spinning the water pump

yeah, water pump=teh important.

ive looked and everything seems to be in the right place belts on i had it really tight then loosend it and it still did the same thing but the water pump isnt on that belt i dont think

start the car and look at the water pump to make sure its spinning

im with him, the fan should be spinning. How tight do you think is tight? you should be able to apply moderate pressure to the belt imbetween the the fan pulley and PS pulley, and it should only deflect about 1/3 of an inch! also if the belt is too long you might not be able to adjust it far enough, check with the old belt to make sure its the proper length/size. The parts guy may have given you a bogus one.

look at the fan pulley, then follow it to the engine block, where it bolts to the engine is a housing. Under that housing is the water pump. 2 cooling devices powered by the same pulley convienient eh? can also mean the two things cooling your engine arent running at all!
