If you got an underdrive pulley for the crank, do you need to get new belts or just tighten them more? I was looking at the ASP and it seems tempting for 100 or so bucks.

The belt #'s are on ASP's website, and also on 240sx.org

You will need the alternator belt and the power steering belt. The a/c belt is the same size.

This is exactly why I thought I would ask. Maybe it would be wise to try your original belts and if they dont fit, then get the recommended ones? I think thats worth a try.

I just order some unorthodox racing pulleys from Adam ext 138, and he beat everybody by $50! This was a complete set, not just the crank pulley. $359.99 and he said that he would do it for others on the list if you are interested.

That's a decent price, but I don't know if I would spend $360 on a set of pulley. I would save up for a turbo kit, which is what I"m doing now. :)

This Adam guy, does he work directly for U/R??? I am interested in getting some of those pulleys as well. I plan on keeping the '95 I have NA for at least a year. (Buying another KA to build from the ground up for my Turbo, the way I see it, I will end up with 2 - 240's, 2 - KA's, & 1 - SR before its all done with LOL.....) If Adam doesn't work for U/R, what company does he work for??? I would like to get with him.

Thanks!

i dont know if i would buy a crank pulley cause of the harmonic balancer. Everything else fine. but i believe in letting an engine go the distance without destroying the crank seal and specs.

the KA doesn't have a harmonic balancer. it has a harmonic dampner. removing it will not harm the engine.

What is the difference between a harmonic balancer and a harmonic dampner? If the stock crank pully does serve as a harmonic dampner then i would think that removing it would cause harm to the engine. Correct me if im wrong but, I thought that the KA was a very rough engine to begin with because it doesnt have any balancing shafts....

the KA's harmonic dampner is there to absorb the initial shock of the a/c clutch kicking in. since i had no power steering or a/c on my KA, i removed it. i had no problems whatsoever.

the main reasons the KA is runs rough is because of it's long stroke and half counterweighted crankshaft.

[/quote]if you check out the dyno sheets they have posted on the UR site, it looks like they're a pretty good addition to a turbocharged car too...

but i can see why you'd wanna get the turbo done first. :)
