I started to change my belt today on my '98 Maxima and when I tried to loosen the tensioner pully the bolt snapped. I put oil on it to try to loosen it up (it was rusted pretty good) and when I turned the wrench, it just broke. I need to know where to get another piece. I believe I will have to get the part that goes behind the pully as well because the bolt broke off in the nut-type piece. Theres a little Paint illustration of what is broken. I pushed the pully back down so it seems tight enough to hold the belt and tightened the bolt on the pully itself back up so it will hopefully hold it down enough.

If someone has a VQ that they happen to be parting out, or know of a quick place to get one, please let me know. I am trying to use the dealer as a last resort.

Thanks

Looks like you snapped the tensioner for the alternator and AC compressor.....

The nissan part number is (drumroll please)... 11925-31U00- PULLEY ASSY, IDLER COMPRESSOR.

This includes a new tensioner pulley, bracket and all hardware. $38 from Joe at EverythingNissan..... Be sure to have him verify this is the case but it should be.. We're looking at part code 11925M on the diagram below..

Thanks a lot Wes!

That diagram, is it from something like the FSM? I know it isn't in the FSM but which one is it? Link?

its from the parts book, NISSAN FAST..

You almost have to have a service manual to use the parts book program... not exactly user friendly, and people wonder why the service desk idiots cant find parts.

FAST, I have heard of that. Is it available to download somewhere? Seems like it would be a very valuable tool for me.
