I'm wondering if anyone has found another good way testing for belt tension. I've been having a hard time finding one. None of my local suppliers have one and Snap-On doesn't even seem to have one.

There's the old garage rule about being able to twist the belt about 90 degrees but not much further. At that point, start it up and see if it squeals.

To find the optimal point if it doesn't squeal, back it off a little, try again. Do that until it DOES squeal, then tighten it back a bit and voila.
