belt squealing

Having a problem with my belts squealing. I just replaced them about 2 months ago because they were squealing and now they are starting to do it again. It happens most of the time on start up and when i crank the wheel all the way. Can someone please help!

Are they tight? Should be the first thing checked, pretty easy to tighten if there not but Id do it anyways just to change it...

Or belt dressing (called exactly that) in a spray can works well

I have had same problem. I have replaced the belts twice in the last 4 years with OEM belts and I have had the dealership check/tighten them every time I go there for service (oil changes, etc.)

Recently, my alternator went out and even after the mechanic replaced it, the belts were still doing this.

On my Maxima, I have Goodyear Gatorback belts. They do not squeal at all. The next time I replace belts on my Q, I am going with those. I bought my Maxima belts from Summit a few years ago, but haven't checked to see if they have them for the Q/Pathy.

I have the gator belts on there already still squealing. As for the belt dressing works at first then just wears off. I checked the belts tension and it seemed pretty tight. Thanks for your help though!! This car has been nothing but problems from the get go!

I'll agree, the belt tension is too loose. Your new belts may have had the correct tension when first installed, but they stretch quite a bit as they get worn in. My vote is for tightening the belts.

The information for my '03 is shown below. Can't guarantee the '01 will be the same, but it's the same engine, so at the least it should be a good guideline.
