I had to recently do some repairs on my i30. I used the guide on the forum concerning the belt replacement .. which was good help but i think i have ran into a problem. while trying to tighten the tension pulley the bolt that has to be turned which removed the tension from the top side of the engine seems not be be adjusting the pulley any. i have checked and have tried all i can think of the get the bolt back in to move this pully down.. any ideas?

You do need to loosen the bolt for the pulley before adjusting the tensioner.

Possibly too tight? If you put a straight edge from the A/C pulley to the crankshaft pulley, the belt should have 1/4 inch of deflection (play). Also, what kind of belt did you get?

i removed the complete pulley assembly only to find out that the tension bolt was stripped and was blocking the downward adjustment on the pulley. i got a grinder to shave the lip on the bolt.. still having a slight issue with it

if you need it up and running fast you can go to the parts store and get a clutch alinement bolt for like a old mustang and use that. i was rolling like that for a little bit because my bolt had broke. bad thing is that it will make your pully go bad.
