I just replaced my belts last week, (powersteering and alternator) I'm not to sure how tight they should be right now everytime I start the engine they will squel for about 4-5 seconds and never squel again until next time i start up. now my question is, is the belt too tight??? or too loose???

also I have 2 valve ticks from under the hood would i be able to remove the valve cover and adjust the lifters or the cam to stop this ticking??? or am i stuck with it????

what year is ur car? the s13 has hydraulic valve lifters so they self adjust, or never need adjustment. i would say that the belts are loose. u should be able to press on a part of the belt half way between where it touches and get a little, a little, slack

was ur timing chain redone recently or at the mileage mark>? that could be the ticking, or your injectors, where does the noise come from?
