Ok, so it's the polished aluminum peice of trim under the window of each door on my '08 G35X Sedan. I think it's called the "belt molding," but I'm not sure. Anyway, on the passenger side, where the front and rear doors meet, this molding isn't flush with the door. It's raised about 3/8" and won't stay down. I bought the car used, so I don't know why it's like that, but I want to get it fixed. If I try to push it down--even with a decent about of force, it just springs right back out. The dealer might take care of it, but I'd have to drive 250 miles to the nearest one.
From what I can tell, there's this black rubber/plastic peice that the molding is supposed to snap into, and then it slides down into a pocket behind the molding to keep it in place. I'm tempted to try taking apart the drivers side to compare and see what's going on, but I don't know what I'm doing, and I'm sure I'll just end up with the same problem on the driver's side
I can't seem to find any online resources showing how this fits together, or even if this is a common issue. Anyone know???
