The upper oil pan is only bolted to it, there is no oil transfer between the two. Trans oil is different from engine oil...

I think he is thinking that there is oil in the Bell Housing.

The bell housing(the part that attaches to the engine) is an empty space for the Clutch Slave, Fork Assy, Flywheel, Clutch and Input shaft for the transmission. The oil is kept even farther behind that behind a seal on the input shaft.

The upper pan is bolted to the rear seal bracket as-well.

The UOP has extra bolt holes near the rear that are threaded. If you screw a bolt in on both sides and tighten them a few turns at a time, it will push the UOP away from the block. I think there is a small access plate on the UOP that you might be able to get at the 2 10mm nuts that bolt the rear main seal bracket to the UOP.

it holds the rear main seal that seals around the crankshaft. If you ever pulled your transmission you would know what it looks like.

Do you have a FSM? You should download one!

You dont have to pull the transmission to unbolt the upper pan just the transmission bolts that bolt too it. (there is not fuild in the bell housing) although its a ***** to pop off, the RTV on it seals really good so you need to find a flat blade and breaks the RTV seal all around to make it easier.

When you pull the pan with the rear seal plate on still make sure you pull it off straight to avoid snapping the studs for it

Dont forget about the alternator Bracket also

There is a gold looking acess plate in the rear that should let you able to remove the the two nuts for it
