hay there guys/gals..

quick question.

i have a ca20 e injected motor can i bolt on the ca20 e carburated gearbox? eg bell housing measurements the same.. gearbox has been on car but since my original clutch went i have been having issues with the new clutches. everything is new. clutch kit, slave cyl, master cyl, went together with no problem. the only difference i found was thrust bearing thickness, so i kept the efi clutch set up and disposed of carbi bearing.

please help i'm sick of popping clutches :wtf2:

How long are the clutches lasting, and are you finding that you can still shift easily when they do work?

CA stuff is usually pretty interchangeable...

But from what I read a long time ago, the carb'd version is called CA20S, and that trans is shorter than the E is. I don't know if that meant the housing is short or the box is?

well this clutch has just done 1000km and started... yes can still shift nicely there are days were it may not slip at all...

and as for the ca20s post... box and bell housings maybe different but i just used same mounts so wouldent there be an issue there.

We didn't get the U12 in the US, but regardless, I've never heard anything about the transmissions being different between the CA20E and the CA20S.

You should check to make sure nothing is leaking onto your clutch disc, causing it to slip.
A headgasket leak (oil or coolant), or really anything leaking onto the bellhousing (or even inside like a rear main) can eventually cause the clutch to slip.

What I read way back when said that the S had a shorter transmission. It may have been on SXOC or another UK site I believe, and remember them saying it was a popular swap to go to CA18E trans because of the strength issue.

That's possible. Nissan did something similar with the CA16 vs. CA18 engine series in the Pulsar as well.
