Its likely that the ultimate message is suggesting that having a wife and kid is what a man should aspire to. What might offend a homosexual male is that if he does not prescribe to that as a life goal, then he is an outcast or perhaps a "social deviant" as someone so eloquently put it. The art itself is not what is "offensive" either. Its the venue. That is, a school should be neutral of any kind of discrimination or bias.
I'm a straight guy who doesn't want a wife and kids either. I'm also a non-Christian who did school Christmas parties and a non-Wiccan who did Halloween school parties. I did Easter parties too but I don't believe in Jesus or resurrection.
I also hate football, and we did college football-themed activities in grade school.
The mural depicts the stages of life, and getting married and producing offspring is an extremely common stage of social and human development.
People aren't
really offended by this. They're seeking out things to pretend to be potentially offended by and making noise about it to feel important. It's like a baby that cries because the mother walks away from the crib. It isn't genuine physical distress. It's a desire for attention.
