OK. This HAS to be an alternator problem. My car is a vampire.

If I start the car and unhook the battery, it will still run, So the alternator is working right?. Now is it possible for the alternator to keep the car running, but not charge up the battery?

A couple times the brake lights were stuck on because the little knob had broken and that drained every bit of life out of 2 batteries, but I fixed it and recharged them with a charger. Yet it seems that the batteries only work like they're not rechargeable. (whoops, power's gone gotta throw it away)

Recently though, the car (which I of course got to push-start) would die after a while of idling, and if it didn't die, and I drove it, I couldn't go over 3Krpm. It's stutter, stumble and then die if I didn't keep pumping the accelerator. Hell, even if I'm pumping it, the car'd still die.

SO? what the flux is up wit dat?

it drained the battery again today. I had the battery on charge all night. It was raining hard and the wipers were going slow, I knew the damn battery was dying. Luckily I was close to home, I cruised with the throttle wide open in 5th gear and made about 10-15mph/900rpm max. The car promptly died when I got in the driveway. what gives?

Rebuild the alternator? get a new one(from where)? change the wires? what? HEEEEEELP! AU SECOURS! AYUDA!

Ay, I hate to be double posting but the one in the SR forum can go to hell. delete that one, btu I REALLY need help. I'm ready to cry....

Yup....just cranked it over and when I moved the terminal, it died.

I'm trying to find a sponsor that sells alternators now. Or should I try and get a quest Alt? Would getting it rebuilt help my cause?

Sure it's the alternator? Sounds like the alternator is fine... Sounds more liek a connection problem or the alternator fuse.... You know you can drive about 26miles on a fully charged battery before your car dies on the side of the road... Was at night time with headlights on. Alternator was good, was just the stupid fuse was blown. If your car runs once started it's not the alternator itself..

The positive-removal test isnt perfect. Sometimes alternators fail completely, and sometimes they fail slowly, charging less and less and less over time.

Yours sounds like the latter. Nissan alternators suck.

I've driven 150k miles between my hatch and my vert. Only replaced 1 Alternator and it was right when I got my hatch. So driven 70k miles each on my hatch and my vert no problem.. Only real issue was my friend from indiana who blew the alternator fuse...

take it out and have it tested. places like autozone and kragen/shucks/checkers will do it for free.

Nothing of the Sort.we do have NAPA/AID (automotive Industrial Distributors)

but I'm going to take it to a mechanic garage and have it checked.though the last time I took it there they told me it was fine.

Where would the Alternator fuse be? (basically everything on my car is in Japanese obviously)

I'm with Ghetto on this one too, sounds like it could very likely be a bad ground. Definitely get the alt tested, but if you had it tested before and it tested good then it's most likely a ground/harness issue.

Sounds like an alternator problem. Also the 3K limit sounds like you need to clean your maf or get a new one.
