Been awhile!!

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Well drove an 08 Infiniti EX35 Journey and fell in lust with it. Price seemed reasonable

http://www.carcitycentral.com/cars.html?i=3670

Looks like it is a Journey http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/ ... F48M361856

It was at a used car lot and was not detailed properly. Tupperware was gray, Beige seats could use a good cleaning, Someone had smoked in it but not the previous owner. Needs tires, Car had 36K miles Very clean otherwise,

BLack Book has following info.
Extra Clean Clean Average Rough
Retail: 24500 22800 20725 17850
Wholesale: 20900 19500 17800 15150
Trade In: 19740 18085 14240
Finance Advance: 20175

I would put it at AVG, Dealer says he has 20K in car,,,I cannot belive that,

Price was 22,175 + $300 SALES TAX ( capped at $300 here) Not sure if that is a good deal or not. I think considering I need tires (which are the quietest?) That riases the price another $800....... Seems to me for $23000 I am closer to an 09 or even a 2010????

Comments?

My 2008 EX35 Journey AWD with 0 package except journey( leather seats, dimming mirror/compass/garage remote, power mirror and seat, park sensor no blng bling) is now cost $18,500 trade in blue book if excellent condition with 56k miles.

Brake service will cost you $550 + per axle. Make sure the brakes were thick including rotors. Most ex35 owner said that city driving at 35K miles wears the brake at that mileage. My rear was replaced at 43k miles.

That ex35 is a journey package (that how they package 2008) totally the same car as mine. Is this certified preowned? I would look into that since they will extend the warranty longer than the normal Infiniti basic warranty.

if i were to get a used EX35, i would get a certified pre owned ones. Or CPO through infiniti dealership. This car is expensive to fix and I do not want 3rd party warranty to handle any warranty issue.

Well you just pretty much talked me out of an EX35, $500 an axle seems to me a NIssan dealer could spin rotors and replace pads at far less than that? Not happening.

I don't usually buy VSCs especially since the nearest Infiniti dealer is 90 miles away. I use an independent shop. I was looking at these these cars because I live a mile or so from NIssan I have a great relationship with and thought they may NOT need much work other wise a Murano or Acura RDX would do fine. Maybe I should rethink this. I would never buy new and take the depreciation hit these highline cars all take in actual dollars. Leasing is out of the question since I don't put more than 4K miles on n in a year,

I heard that Nissan can do basic work on Infiniti cars like brakes and fluid change.
Parts might be a lot more, but aftermarket parts (performance parts) are ok too!

For $22k plus car, that is close to buying a nice one year old car with warranty remaining....

That's how much local Infiniti charged me to do my rears. Good thing the service tech applied a TSB front brake gittering issue on high speed driving even though my car did notmhave that issue. So they changed the front Pads and resurfaced 2 rotors for free.

Went to Nissan today. Brakes were not even close to $500 an Axle. In fact all services were pretty reasonable prices and no more than a Nissan except for a trans flush,

Felt good to have a dealer close by who I just bought a 2012 RAV 4 fro my wife from and who will service both cars should I buy the Infiniti,

Then go for it! Maybe ask for $1000-1500 less.. This car is relaxing to drive. Body is pretty solid too... my only concern, once you get use to the car, you would hate cars that are lower model . You will notice thst the ex35 has that solid door sound when you close it, specially the rear doors. =)

Yeah Thats what my brother says....began with a Es300 now drives the 600 series Lexus.

Maybe I should just get the loaded Rogue and pretend?

Well at least I have an emotional back Stop...A 2008 Tacoma TRD OR with 34K miles in pristine condition I still have to sell and would never consider trading it in wholesale on anything. Turned down $21,000 ($21,900 is the magic number) CarMax offered $19,000 back in Feb AND two weeks ago, I am driving an "annuity: :lolling:

I know i'm straying from the original topic, but I do like the "emotional backstop" that you possess. I'm not a truck guy, nor am I a Toyota fan, but I definitely wouldn't mind owing that Tacoma. Maybe I'm buying into the hype of that vehicle? :)
Used Tacomas in decent condition seem to be worth their weight in gold in the automotive market.

Nice ride you got there :bigthumb:

I've had a couple, and they are as bulletproof as you can get. For a kick look up the Top Gear (BBC version) epdisodes (2 videos I think) on How to Kill a Toyota on YouTube. They try everything from smashing, drowning, burning and even blowing up an old Toyota Hylux pickup, and it still ran! That explains the resale value. BTW I was looking at resale values on Kelly Blue Book and guess which Compact Luxury Crossover gets the prize.... Yep, the Infinit EX is number one in its segment, which surprised me since it seems to be roudly ignored by most car mags and reviewers.

Yeah Thanks...Good thing its not a KIA or Mitsubishi. I would have already jumped.

Born and raised in NJ, Ny truck would be worth 2 cents up there. Seems AWD and 4 WD is all the rage. They come down here to buy 4WDs cheaper. I was offered a 4WD at the same price/mileage and turned it down. Rear locker is enough. We drove rear wheel drive muscle cars and never had snow issues. All the vehicles I see in the ditches when I am in snow country seem to be AWDs and 4 WDS. LOL

Tacos a GREAT truck but I simply don't need a truck. If I am going to get 17 MPG on 91 Octane. I want to ride in style LOL. EASY to buy into the hype of a Tacoma. Wife has here second RAV 4 and we had to find a 12 with 13k miles because she did not like the new body style or all the tech.

LOGIC tells me sell the truck, Buy a used out of favor HHR for $7000 and put an extension on the house with the rest LOL. Because I don't drive even 4000 miles a year.I ride the bike far more.

On the side have been seeing a few 30K mile 2008 FX35s in the low 20's Whats up with that?
