So, I was driving around Atlanta and some woman on her cell phone pulled out in front of me and almost took off my front bumper, so I honked... and of course (like every southerner), she slammed on her breaks cause she was on her cell phone and barely saw a yellow light right in front of her, so I careened right into her back bumper!

This is my car right now:

So, of course I was PISSED, especially since they blamed it on me!

However, my headlights are being replaced with the projectors (chrome backing) with 4300K HID's, and my brakes are being upgraded to Axxis brake pads and R1 drilled and slotted rotors.

SO, I'll post pics as I get them as far as repair updates and the finished product on the 6th.

Hope everything works out good. Good luck!

p.s. that's why I am thinking about investing in one of those small cameras that goes on your windshield. So that you can actually back up your words with some facts.

Man, sorry to hear that. I've noticed a trend of careless people driving like complete idiots lately.

I hope everything goes smoothly.

Everyone drives badly when distracted, no matter what state. Wether it be talking on a phone, trying to eat or having your music up too loud, any distraction reduces your concentration on driving.

Thanks guys for all the support, I'm having a really tough time dealing with this (mostly because Atlanta doesn't have any real public transportation.. AT ALL!).

I'll have pics of the repairs and the aftermarket parts so that you guys can see some of the more recent possibilities...

sorry for your luck. but if it wasn't your fault, who's was it?

i thought it was common knowledge that if you rear-end someone 99 times out of a 100 it is your fault. that's why it's called defensive driving and you allow yourself a few seconds distance behind another vehicle... to allow that person to make a quick stop and to protect yourself!

Obviously he thinks it was the "woman" who pulled in front of him. Looking at the vehicle and the original poster's description - he hit the rear pumper dead on. It wasn't a glancing blow.

Did she contribute to the accident by pulling in front of him? Who knows - seems like she had enough time to straighten out & he had enough time to slam the horn instead of slowing down.

I must admit I am a cynic - not all drivers from NYC are good drivers.

Well, Mr. Chalmers,

It would seem like you didn't care to notice that the radiator is tilted to the left hand side of the car (right if you look from the front) and that there is yellow paint to show that the driver's side fender is rolled outwards and the passenger side is tilted inwards....

It's also funny how you didn't notice that the horns were tilted towards the driver's side...

Next time, before trying to make an a** out of me, look closer. Thanks.

Make an *** out of you? No one can do that.

I'm sorry for assuming you hit the lady dead on - I looked at both wheel wells, and the crumple zones; and they appear to correspond with each other.

Nevertheless - I guess "they" must be wrong - you have no fault. Dumb lady pulled out in front of you and you slammed into her because she slowed down to a halt when you honked.

I say the lady is at fault. She DIDN'T need to pull in front while the light turned yellow. That decreases your reaction time and increases your chances of colliding with the driver in front.

Plus, talking on a cell phone makes her lose concetration on the road and inhibits the danger of other drivers. She didn't have enough time to get through the yellow light, hence she slammed on the brakes and you didn't have enough time to slow down which is the result you are in.

I know how you feel bro.. accidents suck, I tend to be on the look out for people that are distracted or wreckless around me when i'm out on the road..Glad I have a short commute as well.

Most important was that you got out of this accident with out being seriously hurt, as far as bad driving goes most people drive bad on occasion.

So when do you get your car out of the shop? since public transportation seem to not be looking good for you. Post some pics when it's out of the shop bet it will be looking really good with some nice new goodies as well.

I finally get the car back next Tuesday (January 6), so I'll have a full set of photos by the 8th... (crossing my fingers here...)

I was just really frustrated with the fact that the nature of this accident has opened my eyes to the fact that I need my car (no one I can really rely on, you know)!!!

But I can say that the projectors I bought look great so far in the test fit and the brakes are already on the car and look great! At least I'll have something extra to look forward to...

I will say though, it was incredibly difficult to see my baby all beaten up...

Dude i feel your pain. Winter of 07 I was driving next to a semi truck when my back wheel caught some snow and i lost control and hit the steps of the semi. This is what my car looked like.

My license plate bent so bad that they could not fully straighten it out.

They had to replace the hood, both headlights, radiator, radiator support frame, front bumper, grill, under bumper cover, fender, and tire cuz it popped. The total came out to be like $4,500 but i only payed $1000 cuz the insurance covered the rest.
