ok i just have a few questions , none of which involve how using one will effect my motor( im fully aware). i was just wondering if anyone knows other manufacturers that make a similar device, as in a ignition cut bases limiter opposed to the fuel cut. just to clarify im looking for a rev limiter that stops spark but leaves the fuel values alone. thanks for any help in advance

none that i know of other than bee*r,unless you go with a full stand alone ecu which is about 8 times as much as the bee*r limiter.

^ pretty much wat he said.

if ur lucky u can find a local shop that makes one. i know their was a guy round me who made a universal one.

but imo no need for any of that stuff.

msd does have a rev limiter but i don't think it is as great as the bee r because i don't think that you get a big fire when you hit the limiter, with the msd

So you want this so you can merely shoot fireballs out of your exhaust?

I have never really understood the purpose of those.

Are they to protect from over revving the engine?

because all i ever see people doing with them is making loud noises and shooting fire and s***.

They protect your engine alot more than the stock one.. Basically its better than the stock one since it cuts ignition instead of fuel..(yes causing fireballs)

Think of it this way, An engine which is placed in a richened fuel mixture state(Bee*R limiter) is more likely to stay together than one placed in a lean state(stock fuel cutting limiter).

I plan on getting one too they are a good idea if you plan on maybe hitting the limiter or just want to be extra safe..

i can truely care less about the "fireball" , the only legit way to drift around my area is a medium size parking lot. in which they charge 10 for the day, point being the best place to be is 2nd gear about 5k . stopping it from bouncing up to redline can be tricky at times, so instead of blowing my motor im choosing to get a ignition cut. i have no problem paying the 250 these things cost, i was just wondering if they were the only ones making them. thanks

Ive been reading along with all this, and also thought that an ignition cut would be more safe rather then the fuel cut. I wasn't 100% sure so I went and talked to my engines teacher and see what he would prefer. He has over 30 years experience bulding motors and is a mechanical engineer, started off as working on ships in the navy.

He stated that the factory fuel cut is better and that he would prefer this method over an ignition cut. He stated that because the fuel is cut, there will be no firing even when the spark is given. So if there is no firing the piston is under no stress, this cuts out the idea that the cylinder will be damaged because of a lean state that was brought up. It doesnt matter if there is no fuel if it is not firing, there is no stress on the cylinder because there is no explosion physically pushing the piston down(as long as there is still oil lubricating the system). If there is no fuel in the cylinder its just compressed air and this will not ignite. Now its a different story when an engine is still running and firing with not enough fuel.

He also said that if you keep fuel, and take out spark. It will just be washing the cylinder walls with fuel, which will end up in bad ring sealing after time, and also more fuel into the crankcase. Not only the cylinder being washed with fuel, he said the huge backfiring it causes is very dangerous to the motor, only so much can go out the exhaust and in some cases it will go back towards the motor and can open an exhaust valve. If this happens at the right time it can catch the piston on its up stroke and cause either a bent valve or cracked piston.

This guy definatly knows his s***, so from his explanation, you would be wasting your money and be causing more risk to your engine.

did you state to your teacher that you also have the ability to lower the rev limit to stay in the ideal power band? and if he knows all , have him take a pair of brand new spark plugs and run them around town. they should be a golden color if the motor is running correctly. now take second set and replace the golden ones. now take the car to up to redline in 5 sec intervals , after 5 minutes of doing this your plugs will be "white"( lean) . im sure his idea is sound but the last time i checked running lean is always worse than running rich.

ive tried this with a bee r , and the plugs were still golden brown after the 5minutes in redline. yes its loud , yes it might possibly ware the rings down over time but running the motor lean will cause far more damage than the bee r.

now ive wasted $20 on spark plugs to prove a point.

i agree a rich running car is forever going to run better than a lean one thats why dry nitrous kits are disasters most of the time, because not enough fuel.and not only that leaner is hotter which is a lot worse than a little ring wash from fuel,im not saying your teacher is an idiot but its logic,

so anyway bee r limiters are sweet where can i get one besides bee r direct,i dont want to spend 360 bucks for a sexy sound and some fire, but i want it

Youve completly missed the point and have proved nothing, you wasted like 20 double cheeseburgers .

Like you turning your engine over by hand except it has spark, does that count as the engine running lean? NO. Pull the plug out sure it will be white.

This is because spark is still being applied and its not burning anything. The POINT is that the engine isnt firing, no explosion going on in the combustion chamber. So therefore if there is no explosion going on this makes no stress on anything if there is no fuel so there is no lean condition(Once again because it isnt firing). If there is fuel there your washing the rings.

So because the spark plugs are white does not show that there is combustion/firing going on and that cylinder is running lean, beacause it isnt RUNNING in the first place. Its just going through its stroke.

So in the end applying spark to a plug with nothing to burn, I doubt is going to ruin the plug, or washing your rings, you choose.

Im saying your an idiot cause you cant comprehend that it isnt firing so therefore its not a lean condition. Like the cylinder going through its stoke with out firing and physically forcing the piston down. Its just logic.

ok obviously you didnt notice that i didnt even mention the limiter in my convo except at the end when i asked where i could get one,i was talking about lean running conditions not lean because of the limiter not sh** its not firing so theres no difference except a little fuel, but way to try and be an a*****e,im not on this site to argue with people man im here to share intrests
