Hello everyone, I'm new here, I am in the midst of buying a 95-96 240SX SE right now and thought I would look around at the aftermarket for the car. I saw this on Bee*R's website, something about a rev limiter and shooting fire? I thought it was pretty cool and was curious as to what it is and what it does. Here's the linkhttp://www.bee-r.com/english/revlimitter/inde.htmAlso, what would everyone recommend as far as boosting the car and suspension compenents as well. Thanks in advance

The Bee*R rev limiter I am pretty sure is just like any other one you can get with an ignition system. Instead of cutting fuel when you hit the rev limiter it cuts spark. This causes the engine to run really rich allowing lots of unburned fuel to go out the exhaust but on the way it get ignited by the the engine causing a flame to be shot out the tailpipe. The way alot of people shoot fire out the tailpipe is if they have a turbo and it is supposed to be equiped with a "pop-off" vavle or a blowoff valve that recirculates and they change it to one that vents to the atmosphere. This will cause the car to run rich between shifts sometimes producing fire from the tailpipe.

I see. Does it change the rev limiter or does it just basically make your car shoot flames? HP adder? Sorry, I don't really understand the concept of running rich and lean.

My friend (who is more into domestic old cars than imports) was talking about having a controllable spark plug mounted inside the tailpipe so that any unburned fuel could be ignited, shooting flames out the tailpipe. Of course, he doesn't really know what he's talking about a lot of the time so he could be full of sh*t. Anybody else heard of this?

yes, thats an old 70s gimick. You would flood your engine and there was a little spark plug that you mounted on your tail pipe and when it was sparked, you would get a nice flame out of your exhaust. Forgot all about those till now.

The real "Don" trick is to use your clutch switch as the switch to set off the spark plug mounted in the exhaust. It's not as simple as wire and go, but it's fool proof once installed... clutch in, rev 'er up... you know the rest.

What about this bee*r thingy? Is that all it is? A flamethrower?

its a rev limiter first and a benefit of that is flames if you dont have a cat or poping if you do. you can also adjust the volume of it. not like the loudness of it but the degree to which it cuts the ignition.
