Bed repair on my 1986 720

About 2 years ago, a bad tire threw a tread and slapped my bed really hard. I pulled the damaged piece down but never had it repaired. Last week I found a very nice bed at the salvage yard and cut out a piece for the patch. It's not easy to find a nice original patch piece because most beds from the 1980s have a lot of rust.

I made a repair today. I have a MIG welder but I have no experience. This was a good way to try out my skills.

I ran out of daylight, so I will need to finish up later this week.

I sanded for 10 minutes and then got impatient. Wiped it down and sprayed with rattle can black primer, just like the rest of the truck. It's far from perfect, but if it looked perfect then the rest of the truck would be jealous!! :chuckle:

It's what I call a 20 footer repair. It looks a LOT better than it did!! :biggrin: :biggrin:
