Anyone could get a good score on that test. It's genuinely written to weed out the people that mouth-breathers think are dumb.Xdisaster240sX wrote:Join the Army...that might be a good start.
Honestly you need to get a super good score on your ASVAB first before you can even think about something like that.

Go to college first. Hell, you could even become a commissioned officer after a 4 year degree in music and be making good money doing whatever.troskinatior wrote:And is it true that if you sign up for something they can put you in a totally different area, for example, some one signs up to be a chief but they put him in infantry.
So what should I do? Go to community collage they join the army? Or try to sign up for the "high school to flight school" program, even tho I probably wont get excepted?

I wouldn't be surprised that there's a clause in your contract that if you don't meet selection criteria that you can be "reassigned in the best interest of the service" or equally vague and imposing language.troskinatior wrote:And is it true that if you sign up for something they can put you in a totally different area, for example, some one signs up to be a chief but they put him in infantry.
If the only interest you have in the Army is for flight school why you try despite "even tho I probably wont get excepted" (it's 'accepted', not 'excepted') you should pass on the whole idea. Say you don't make it, you end up serving for who knows how long in a job you might or might not like and the Army gets someone that potentially doesn't care about what they're doing...not exactly what they're looking for.troskinatior wrote:So what should I do? I gots to disagree. While it might be sweet to be flying the Apache at first, I think the coolest gig (flying Army helos) would be behind the stick of an MH-60 DAP in the 160th out of Campbell.themadscientist wrote:And don't settle for anything less than
That's all? I had that one beat right out of High School :pface:BusyBadger wrote:You need a 110 GT to be considered for WO flight school in the Army. Follow the link I posted...
This was my reason for suggesting a private lesson or two to make sure it's something you can do. It's an exciting vocation to a high school kid, but not everyone is suited for it.BusyBadger wrote:That, or fear of flying.
Agreed. When I enlisted the contract listed I was coming in as an E-3 and got paid special duty pay from the minute i stepped in Great Lakes. Couldn't complain with that. I originally signed up for ET when I couldn't get the security clearance originally. ( Not allowed to have dual citizenship/ Had to check eligibility because my parents are immigrants). But I was surprised how accommodating they were at MEPSCOM to try to get me placed as a nuke.Ace2cool wrote: The Navy is THE ONLY BRANCH that can guarantee your job BEFORE you sign the paperwork joining.
Ok that sounds good. Where can I take the tests and how many chances do I have to pass?BusyBadger wrote:You need a 110 GT to be considered for WO flight school in the Army. Follow the link I posted...

I listed the ASVAB score first because without the there's no reason to take the FAST. But I figure anyone even remotely interested in flight school can get a 110 GT in their sleep. I still think the medical qualifications are what stop most people.
That, or fear of flying.
Yeah I read it I just didnt see the link at the bottom of that pagesnwbrdr435 wrote:Did you see the link he posted?
