Update/lessons learned:

I began with around 16 milk crates of extra parts, both the regular size and the long ones. Also, a big pile of things not in crates. As I came to find out a lot of it was junk: stuff that was deteriorated and unusable, suspension parts that don't deteriorate or typically get broken, parts to unidentifiable cars (some 520/1), and so on.

I gave a lot of miscellaneous items to club members and sold some locally. I sold a small amount on ebay, which is a pain due to the time it takes to package and drop things off for shipping. Barely worth the time spent.

The truck is done, you can see it at ratsun. I have a very few items left to trade or sell, and have kept a couple of crates of spares.

As I did the rebuild I came to recognize what was unnecessary and what was worth finding another owner to give or sell to. A lot of "heavy metal" ended up in the recycle bin, good thing the local waste service uses mechanical arms to empty the totes.

I think this project cost me about what a quarter of tuition costs at a state university. It was a great learning experience. Heck, considering the cost/benefit analysis of college at present, I'd recommend parents seriously consider funding projects such as this for their children instead of wasting tens of thousands on college. I just don't see the benefit of the indoctrination/partying/find-oneself/people-warehousing BS that college has become.

These 320's have a huge amount of style. I'm more of a project person however, so I expect at some point I'll sell and move on to the next thing.

This is my first post so hopefully I've read the rules correctly.

I have boxes and boxes of 1965 320 parts. My intent on being here is to eliminate my surplus of parts. The first item I'd like to sell are a set of door windows--glass and complete frames, a matching set left and right. No idea what they are worth, but if anyone is interested or can help me value them, I'd like to hear from you.

I also have an extra dash in decent shape.

I'm looking for a set of pistons if anyone can suggest where or how to obtain them. I have two engines a 1200 original matching serial I'm rebuilding and a 1300 installed that I can drive around with now.

I'll try to begin listing the items I have but it will take some time. If anyone can hook me up to someone in the Seattle area who is knowledgeable that would be appreciated.

Mod Edit: I have merged all your topics about 320 parts into one thread, to try and keep it all together

Welcome aboard!

I'll see who we have up in Seattle. In the meantime, let us know what all you have for the 520 and we'll help you offload it!

Ok, thanks. I'll begin taking photos and itemizing. Some of the items are a bit unfamiliar to me such as sets of tie rods I may not be able to list with proper names for them. I have at least one strip of trim that I believe is non-1965.

Zed1, looks like this site has a waiting period for PM's for new members. Not sure what it is by maybe a week?

I can see PM's but there doesn't seem to be a reply button and the compose area shows this:

I am rebuilding a 1966 520, manufactured March 1965.

Please let me know what parts you have.

Are you looking for a set of standard pistons & rings, or an overbore set?

Trim pieces. The top item is the front hood trim which was painted over black at some point. The next two are front side trim, about 3/4" wide. These are narrower than what is on my '65 so it may be from another year. The bottom two are door trim I believe.

I also have the inside part of the glove box, it's made of whatever that cardboardy stuff is.

I also have a starter/spare tire crank. Photo didn't get saved.

Barely scratching the surface. If you think it's junk or low value let me know. I don't want to store it all.

I don't think any of it is trash, however I know that storing parts for a future project can be very unrewarding.
There are a few parts I definitely need:

bottle jack
two rubber clips that hold the crack handle against the rear bulkhead
sun visors
steering wheel (mine is cracked)
radio knobs
door panels covers (my door panels were recovered with vertical, pleated vinyl and I want to find an original style to match for recovering)
rear bumperetts

Let me know if you have any of these.
Thanks,
Keith

I know right off hand I have three pair of sun visors.

I have a pair of door panels with vinyl on them. Red and white. The vinyl is not horrible and could definitely be used for a pattern. I have a bunch of those cardboardy things used for various interior work.

I'm not sure about the rest of the stuff. I have an original radio that works but I was planning on putting it in and taking out the newer stereo that was put in at some point. Maybe have some knobs. I have a bunch of wrapped instrument stuff I haven't unpacked yet.

I have a complete extra seat.

Those glove box doors look to be off a 320 truck, not a 520 truck. What is the vin number of the truck you are parting out?

Oh crap! Yep, it's a 320. I don't know how I mixed that up. I think as I was searching the internet I somehow got onto the idea that 1965 = 520. I'll have to go get the vin. Now I'll have to change forums. Sorry.

Well, first the screw-up admission. I got to searching for some parts to my truck and somehow got to thinking I had a 520. I actually have a 1965 320.

When I bought it I got two truckloads of spare parts with it. And I don't mean the Datsun truck bed, I mean two F-350's full of parts. I cannot conceive how I would ever need them all.

I've taken some photos of a few of the parts and mistakenly posted them in the 520 forum. I'm hoping the moderator can move those posts to here.

My question is what is the best way to sell parts like these that probably move fairly slowly? I guess it's common to post here on this site? Or should I open an ebay store? Or some other method?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Best place to start would be Nico. People check out the classifieds all the time, and this being the one of the largest and most reliable Nissan networks online, you're bound to have someone interested. eBay would be another option as well.

Yep, the Datsun Truck Classifieds is the best starting point. Ebay and Craigslist also draw a lot of attention

Opened another box. Five glove box doors!? Is there some sort of fetish car collectors have about glove box doors? Isn't the glove box door about the last thing to get damaged?

I'm having trouble figuring out the simply idiotic parts the previous owner kept versus the useful ones. These seem to be in the idiotic category. I notice there are two on sale on ebay.

Can you shoot me a couple detailed pics of the front fender trim (close-up) so that I can see the shape? If they're what I need, I'm very interested.

Also, a photo of the old radio - if it's the one I need, I'll make sure you get fair value for it.

Thanks!

I know probably 50% of all the 320 owners in the US. Whatever you have, post it up. If I don't need it or know someone who does, it's probably garbage. :)

I have at least one but at this point I need that to go on the original engine which I have out and am beginning to work on. The engine in the truck has some aftermarket thing. I might have more carb stuff but I haven't had a chance to get through all the boxes.

Hope these images are sufficient. I measured this trim and it is about 9/16" wide. Thinner than what is on my truck.

Well, they don't quite match mine, but let me know what you'd want for them (shipped to 85387). It's always good to have some pieces to use for "trade bait" in case I find the exact set I need. :)

Thanks!

I am rebuilding a 1965 PL320 to present to my daughter on her 16th birthday. My dad had one when I was a boy and I have been looking for one my whole adult life. I found a perfect project in Arizona and had it trucked to me in Virginia. This will be a complete frame off restoration.I am in need of all hydralic parts for the brakes and clutch and every other rubber part there is . The Arizona climate was perfect for perserving the body and frame but not so kind to the rubber. If anyone can help me on my quest I would sure appreciate it. Please call or email if you have any leads that may assist. [email protected] 802-922-3183. Thanks Greg
