Post

Hi guys:

Im new so please go easy on me.

I have an S13 sr20det blacktop that I have swapped in to a e30 BMW
I searched on this site for hours trying to find the same symptoms im having a problem with.

so I have the swap done, It runs perfect for about 5 mins on cold start up, but after that is runs horrible, it starts to rev up and down and will die and off.

I checked all the things on the check list from this site, but it still runs crappy.

timing is set at 15' with the tps off
tps is set right
checked and cleaned the iacv
re-cerc blow off

heres the stats, blacktop s13, cheap t3-t4 turbo for now, stock fuel system,
I dont have the speed sensor hooked up, I dont now how Im going to accomplish this yet? wiring was a nightmare!

CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME INSITE ON WHERE TO START NEXT, I KNOW THIS TOPIC IS PALYED OUT, BUT IM OUT OF MONEY FOR THIS PROJECT SO I CANT JUST START BUYING NEW PARTS AND HOPE I GET LUCKY, I NEED A GOOD IDEA OF WHATS BAD? OR WHAT TO DO.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE

sounds like iacv to me. when it starts to run like crap, what happens if u hold the throttle at say 1500 rpm? does it flunctuate or stay at 1500???

First i think we need some pics! Thats a cool swap.

Then check the CTS sensor and IAVC maybe clean the IAVC or do a seafoam job. When the CTS is bad is floods the engine and kills becuase it's telling the ecu that the motor is alays cold. I know they have the part number somewhere on the forum try a search for CTS.

Then after the CTS, IAVC, and boost leaks, check your maf voltage out. Then you might have to break the voltmeter and look for any bad connections GL

@ jdmxpress, if I try to bring the throttle up 1500 it will stay for a sec, but still die off if i dont open the b-fly more

@ rc1honda, I canged the CTS when I did the swap with one for a G20 SR, I was told they are the same. is this true? and cleaned the hell out of the iacv, I haven't checked the maf yet, what pins do I test on the maf?

what about the O2 sensor? can it affect the idle this much?

also I will snap some pics of it soon

thanks guys
