Beat this gas mileage

Well my car was running very bad and very very rich the past couple of days. I only drove it about 50 miles in the last 5 days, because it ran so bad and finally just woulnd't run really at all. Well I found out my coolant temperature sensor was bad. Ok now to the point of the post: 1/2 tank of gas for 50 miles of driving fun :ylsuper and I ruined my NGK Iridium plugs :oface They came out blacker than black, so I had to throw in some cheap NGK's for now. Hopefully it didn't mess up my new O2 sensor too bad.

wtf? you gotta be kidding. there is more wrong than a temp sensor...

You wouldn't think that a dead temp sensor would cause that kind of wonderful mileage, but it did. I took it to the dealer to have them run a full test on it and theres absolutely nothing wrong with it. It might not have been a full 1/2 tank burned, but pretty close to it.

well, gas guages are notoriously unreliable. and yours must be more-so. not that i doubt you had worse mileage, but DEFINATELY not a half tank. you might wanna consider cleaning it out though after running so rich...

What do you mean cleaning it out? You're probably right, my gas gauge sucks. The mileage wasn't probably as bad as I said, but it was aweful.

yea i notice that my car runs out the first 1/4 of a tank pretty fast, and i can run it with only a 1/4 tank left forever. my gas gauge must suck too.

Same here. And I can have gas pouring out of the overfill and my gauge will never read full.
