just as the title says, the stretch of 49 between Bassets and Downieville in the sierra nevadas, for anyone who knows the area... he started off ahead of me, the gap widened in the turns as i have 15 year old tired suspensoion now, but i would catch up to him in the straights, very good match for my car and my driving skill i thought. after about 7-8 miles, about the half way point he let me pass. then the race was on... he stayed with me for the first two turns, then the gap widened, and widened and by the sixth corner, he was barely in my rear view mirror, and by the eighth corner, his car competely dissapeared. i was very happy with the way my completely stock car performed, i also cant wait til the end of the summer when i finnish the complete suspension update and rebuild the engine...

Was the driver visibly intoxicated?

A Mini S should by all means *spank* a stock S13 with rickety stock suspension on twisties, uphill or downhill, if the drivers are comparable.

He probably seen your body roll and didn't want to have anything to do with that so he backed out of the throttle.

Sounds like he didn't know how to drive... at all.

Are you sure he was racing you after he let you pass?

In all honesty, it sounds as though he wasn't intending to race, and just let you get by him so that he didn't have you trying to tailgate him... not to say that I'm right but it's just an observation of mine
