Hey,

I'm in the process of piecing together parts for a mild rebuild on the sr20. I read up on how to determine the correct oem bearings by reading the numbers on the crank and block, but I'm interested in replacing the bearings with ACL race bearings. However, when ordering from any website they don't offer the OEM sizes (Grades 0-6) but rather "Standard, 0.025, 0.25, 0.50". Do I just want standard? Don't you have to measure or use the stamped numbers to get a very tight tolerance on the bearings?

The rebuild is a project I plan for a month of the summer, I'll be sure to do a rebuild thread . Any recommendations on things to replace when in the bottom end? I don't want to separate the head at this point, but the bottom end will be apart, so I plan on the following:

ACL Race Main and Rod BearingsACL Thrust BearingsFront main sealTiming chain ?? (is this necessary? replacing the tensioner tomorrow)Water pump (this and the oil pump necessary?)Oil pump

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,Chris

Im in the process of doing this too. I have asked this question in my build thread and havnt received much of an answer. But the way I understand it is that the ACL STD sizes will work. The other options are for when you have a crank that has been polished a few times and need slightly bigger bearings. could be wrong though. as for other stuff to replace I would add in arp main studs. And whether your motor needs those pumps or not its always a good idea to replace them.

just go with oem nissan bearings. p2m (phase2motortrend) offers them and there one of the best bearings that i have used. i would also change the oil pump, water pump, tensioners, chain etc.... start fresh. gl w/ the build.

The reasons I was going with the ACL's was I thought they were a good upgrade over OEM, but also that they are alot cheaper. I found several ebay auctions for the main, rod and thrust bearings (all ACL) for like $80 USD.

s13-t I was kinda thinking the same thing about the bearings but I'd like someone to verify this.

you could always call up a local machine shop or local import tuner shop and ask. Or hit up the ACL company
