Last night my sweet Gianna was broken into. There seems to be a way in with the window auto-down feature. The bastards busted in my driverside door lock, and got the windows to autodown. They stole nothing. The police told me that this was the 4th Infiniti that night, and and this has been going on for a while now. Seems the FBI is even involved because they aren't trying to steal your ride, they are stealing/copying your registrations in order to make stole cars overseas legal (or something like that).

TAKE YOUR INFO OUT OF YOUR CAR!!! Don't leave any paper work, or even your manual. This is what they want, so don't give it to them.

Gianna is pissed off, but ok. I can't even lock her up, because as soon as I turn off the car, the windows drop automatically. So she's at the doctor now. I'm told the entire door panel will have to be replaced, as well as much of the interior workings of the door.

The collision place had 3 Infinitis in the lot, all with the exact same issue...

Man, thanks for this info. I hope they don't get to the parking deck where my car is currently parked. I will be totally pissed if this happened to me.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when they are doing that... then become a boxer and beat the $hit out of them before they did anything to the car!

You can take your registration out, but they still have to break in to figure out your registration isn't there. Plus, what are you going to do if you get pulled over? Without your registration, your car is now illegal.

Or how about a St. Bernard just running at them, knock em over, then just sit on them? Maybe add in a big dog fart too?

I think I'd rather have a rottweiler go after them.

If I had everything in my glove box in my wallet... well I would look like George from that episode of Seinfeld with the fat wallet!

Lol, I only keep my vehicle registration in my wallet. Insurance, manual, etc stays in - insurance esp incase someone does steal the car it's not considered "illegal" and i can't get hit for it. The registration stays with me, the car is the size of a credit card but paper thin..

Not sure what information is concealed by removing the registration and leaving the insurance card in the car?

After all, your car's info including the VIN is on the insurance card and the plates are plain to see. Maybe I am missing something...

Same thing happened to me couple weeks ago. Heres my story i posted on another board

So they broke into my G37 this past Tuesday. Just like a previous post I saw. They stole my IPOD, Garmin GPS, Diesel Jeans and other stuff.

The thieves pop open the cap over the lock on the door handle and punch a hole through some sensor ( I believe) which automatically lowers the windows. And my door also will not open. The police told me they get into the car in a matter of seconds. THIS HAS TO BE ADDRESSED BY INFINITI. 5 infinitis 37s and 35s were broken into that afternoon. This happened at my job in Parsippany NJ. The police told me that its always the infinitis lately.

Im contemplating leaving my doors open.

Last point they also go through the car manual looking for the key code on the extra key that allows them to make keys. So they can come back and steal the car.

Pardon my grammar. I have about 1 hour of sleep and I'm not in a mood to proofread this.

This sucks and I think Infiniti should be proactive about this issue and the cops say that this breakin will become more popular in the coming months. I called the Dealer and they played stupid, like they never heard of this.

Be careful guys

Sounds like the Maxima HID theft issue that was big a few years back. Nissan eventually offered a kit to cover the bolts but that did not matter when the target was the bulbs and ballast.

If anyone can point to the location of the "sensor" then an owner could install a piece of metal to help protect it?

Glad I don't live in NJ.

Shadopath welcome to Nico. Sorry to hear your trouble also. I don't know if Infiniti would do anything since it is localized. It doesn't happen anywhere else only in your area. I do understand where you coming from and I know this does not help.

I am from Europe. I know and seen some crazy stuff there. Auto theft is huge overthere. The reason is lots of small countries. If they steal a car the car is out of the country in 2-3 hours. They got so far they have a license plate software at the borders to scan your plate and recognize the car type and color. If it does not match up you are pulled over for a long wait and investigation. Still don't stop people to steal your car. If the car is reported it is on the system in 20 minutes. There is some show in Europe on the tv and they show how long it takes to get in some of the high end cars. I've seen the Audi 8 needed about 1-2 minutes to brake in and get the car moving.

There used to be a show once a year when they brought most new models of the europian brands in one parking lot and tested with 2 guys how long it takes them to brake in the car.

All said here in Canada I live in a small town just over 100k populaion. I never lock my doors in my house when I am home. But I have a killer in my house.

He is not the reason. It is just how I live.

One of the infinitis in my lot got hit 3 times. WE are in a good area too.

Im thinking of getting a car cover with a lock to act as a deterrent. Or finding a real nasty junkyard dog and chaining it to my rim.

I can borrow my killer to you. J/K

I would park it somewhere where there is lot more traffic and would install a high end alarm system.

Oh I forgot about the one my father used to do with his Mercedes. He used to go to big cities in Europe and to make sure nobody touches his car he left a Fresh Russian news paper on the passanger side seat. It worked nobody stole his car or tempered it. Not sure if his got lucky or what.
